When you listen to the press conference he was not making excuses - just saying it as it is.
Bola has been suffering pain all season and it is too much for him again. He has had to pull back again.
 
Howson did a job at CB and RB (CB in a 3).

I'm more worried about the fact we ain't scoring. We are not playing Fulham or WBA. They are cannon fodder in terms of goals conceded. That said they have scored more😕
 
I wonder if we will see McNair and Howson back in defensive positions again? Or/and use of wingers as wing backs.
Is a pity we cannot recall Nathan Wood, but we can't. Same applies to the other players that went out on loan - from what I have been told was largely due to their agents wanting them to play regular first team football.
 
I suppose another question is if McNair and Howson play in defence who steps into midfield? Will Siliki have recovered from his international travelling? Is Payero fit again? He has been injured on top of any match fitness queries.
Tav is someone that could do a job in either defence or midfield. Any position other than centre back.

Of course it was Rob, it couldn't possibly be "Neil's" fault.

Questions surely have to be asked why we have 1 fit defender and 4 first team squad members categorized as defenders out on loan.

Only other option I can see is a 4 of Howson Bamba McNair Kokolo or maybe Gitau at RWB and Tav LWB? But Gitau is just 18

We know that Hayden Coulson was determined to leave for regular first team action and we think Nathan Wood's agent advised him similarly. With finances being so tight post COVID and that limit on first team squad numbers there are a great deal of balancing acts. For instance we cannot put more youngsters on the bench because they would have to be registered and we would have to fill those two remaining places in the maximum number of registered senior players. That would not allow us to bring anyone in on loan.
There are a lot of balancing acts this season.
