De bruyne has broken eye socket and nose

I watched it twice and thought why is he holding his head. It was a blatant body check but I thought he might have broke his ribs or something.

I was convinced he hadn’t touched his face and then I saw the eye instantly come up.
Really bad injury that one I hope he’s ready in time - maybe has to wear a face mask for the euros.
 
It was nasty and cynical. The laws need changing if you get only a yellow for that. Not saying he intended breaking his eye socket but even so, dangerous play clearly so should be a red. And to then go down holding his own face ffs.

Barely got a mention though, but waxing lyrical about his goal saving tackle from Foden. Which was a great tackle but what he did to De Bruyne is a disgrace.
 
I've yet to see a convincing angle. The replays last night appeared to show Rudiger hold his ground and de Bruyne run into him.

It was a nasty collision but I've not seen anything which shows Rudiger moving into de Bruyne.

Happy to stand corrected if anyone has a link.

Awful for de Bruyne and hope he's fit for the Euros - but just a part of football.
 
Rudiger obviously has his own line in protective face masks and wanted a new model to try them out, and picked Kevin as a high profile recipient!
 
Definitely deliberate.

It’s one thing blocking a player off but to do it with that kind of dangerous aggression is shocking. Sticking your shoulder into his face is likely gonna break bones.

He didn’t just hold his ground either, he kept moving forward into De Bruyne, after the ball had gone. Look at Zorro’s link to it. Cowardly and cynical. Reinforced by his own reaction to it. Yet the commentary team found only amusement in the ref helping him up with one hand while showing a yellow with the other.
Why doesn’t var get used for this stuff?
 
Would agree with those saying it was intentional, he wouldn’t fake the head injury if he didn’t think himself he’d done something wrong.
Only half paid attention to it at the time, did VAR look at it?
 
VAR didn’t even checked out on that one. 100% red card. I think KDB will be ok for Euros but wear protective mask though. Class player I understand why he were upset to be honest.
 
Does intent have to be proven? The papers are full of analysis of Chelsea's tactical genius, but it goes to show that when you have 2 equally well-resourced clubs competing, luck plays a big part.

Not sure it’s all about luck, remember when Salah got taken out by a judo throw in the champions league final?

These cynical assaults need to be jumped on.

This champions league final was poor quality enough without it being partly decided by nobbling the best player.
