Dave Challinor

I totally agree with that last sentence but I wonder what his wife is getting at with the line 'but I promise you there is more to this than just money.'
Most likely nothing at all. More likely a line span to stop the unwarranted and unjustified abuse the challinor family have been getting on social media.

Struggle to blame someone for taking the money at that level, no different to anyone else changing jobs for more money. We would all do it so why is football any different?

I would actually like to see that, as i'm hoping somebody will give him another chance.

Seems like the ideal opportunity?
I think if he's serious about being a manger and wants to be taken seriously than pools is the job for him. I'm not knocking his effort at the boro btw I think he was put in place to tread water while we ran a few huge contacts down.. not the ideal start for a rookie. I think he did a decent job at Bournemouth also, stepping up from first team coach to interim manager. 10th Place, level on points with 7th only 8 points off top. Steady the ship until January then a little chat with Warnock and uncle steve and he could have a few academy lads that he's worked with to give them that extra push.. maybe

I think if Pools are serious about staying in the football league then Woodgate isn't the man for them.
Exactly this. You need someone who actually knows the game at that level. It's fine saying you need a young manager who might progress through the game but that shouldn't be what they go for.

According to Jeff it is about money. As others have said though, at that level you can’t really blame him.

Interestingly many Pools fans are wanting them to give Anthony Sweeney a go. I think they need to make sure they establish themselves as a football league club first and foremost. It would be too easy for them to slip back down again.

I haven't been to Stockport for many years after living near there in the 1980s, for one year. I guess its part of the booming Manchester economy now, where in the past its was a very working class town. I used to go to the odd Friday night game at Edgeley Park. Who owns Stockport County now?

Vita Group.

The owner and his brother speak very highly of everyone.

Antony Sweeney 38yo previous
Hartlepool W3 D1 L1

Jonathan Woodgate 41yo previous
Middlesbrough W9 D16 L16
Bournemouth W13 D2 L8

I dare say that Jonathan Woodgate is vastly more experienced and would be on another level in league one. The difficulty is he has to put his balls on the line and get down and dirty.. I'm not sure whether he would be willing to do that. Probably sees it as beneath him, not wanting to risk his 'top 6 championship' stock - which I don't think he actually has yet. Depending on the set up at pools it could be very good for him. The Cowley brothers' stock went through the roof after their time at Lincoln promoting them to league one. Woodgate & Downing perhaps? Imagine Stewart Downing in League Two.. I reckon he could still do a job!

Who else could he bring in with him..

Colin Cooper - looked like he was onto a winner with Craig Hignett
Craig Hignett - looked like a decent number two

Matthew Bates - still only 34
David Wheater - 34 yo
Tony McMahon - 35yo
Lee Cattermole - 35yo
Grant Leadbitter - 35yo

Being daft about it.. for little over half a season you could have Downing, Leadbitter, Wheater (after his op)

Danny Graham is still only 36yo..

Never mind having Toyosi Olusanya & Connor Malley in on loan.. get the boro old masters in on it!!

She's probably getting at "there's more to this than just money"

Maybe there are personal reason the Challinors want to move to Stockport or nearby?

He's from Chester used to play for Stockport and was at Tranmere before and Bury after. So I'd imagine they might have roots in the NW

What’s going on behind the scenes? After everything Pools went through a few years ago, and then to get back in the EFL and appeared to be stable. It’s madness to throw all that away.
Its only recently, 3 weeks maybe a bit longer, that he signed a contract so it cant have been that bad, obviously somethings happened since putting pen to paper, or he genually wants to be closer to his family
Apparently Stockport have new owners with money to spend & he was excited at the prospect of going closer to home & building something there, hopefully it doesnt tarnish his reputation with Pools fans as he's done a fantastic job there & should be rightly remembered for it
