Have you seen the state of the "Arena" recently? No idea why the real Darlington can’t play at the Arena?
Yeah I’ve seen the stadium.. nothing been done to it since it opened by the looks of it. Darlington United looks like a load of bollokcs.. just wondering if anyone knew what the.. banter was about?Have you seen the state of the "Arena" recently?
What a mess. Rust all over the steel. There are big bills coming in a few years time that the rugby club and this nonsense (150 followers on Twitter) will not have anything like the readies to cover.
For comparison, aside from Darlington FC (National League North, 41,000 Twit followers) there is also Darlington RA FC (Wearside League, 3682 Twit followers)
Apart from it not making financial sense, both the national league and the league mowden park play in stipulate their fixtures must take priority so it's a non starter. No idea why the real Darlington can’t play at the Arena? Would have solved a lot of problems imo. no idea who this lot are..

Why a non starter?Apart from it not making financial sense, both the national league and the league mowden park play in stipulate their fixtures must take priority so it's a non starter.
Both leagues stipulate their fixtures take priorityWhy a non starter?
The North Riding level, which they're applying to join, have teams ground sharing with more senior sides. Both leagues stipulate their fixtures take priority
Wages perhaps? It has probably been explained somewhere before but how did the Football team, with crowds of 2,500, struggle to pay the bills and upkeep at the stadium, yet the rugby team, with a couple of hundred followers, can afford to play there?
Yes, this has always baffled me.It has probably been explained somewhere before but how did the Football team, with crowds of 2,500, struggle to pay the bills and upkeep at the stadium, yet the rugby team, with a couple of hundred followers, can afford to play there?
Well I can’t see how any low level rugby team can afford the maintenance of a stadium like that, even if their players were playing for nowt and they were charging 500 fans £30 a seat.Wages perhaps?
It's not their club maybe?Sounds like a group of "splitters"?
If they`ve got backing and support - why not invest in Darlo and help them get promotion and eventually back into the Football League?
There's a lot of established money following rugby, sponsorship plays a big role in local team funding.Well I can’t see how any low level rugby team can afford the maintenance of a stadium like that, even if their players were playing for nowt and they were charging 500 fans £30 a seat.
Why though? Darlo 1883 are a fan owned club so surely they'd turn down the opportunity to be solely owned again given this potential Darlington United FC owner had a few quid to throw about. When Mowden sold their old ground they got millions for the land. This allowed them to buy the Stadium and still have a significant amount left.
If the man behind Darlington United genuinely has Darlington's best interests at heart, then he should, as suggested by a previous poster, invest in Darlington 1883.
Creating a new team will possibly take followers from the main club.
I thought they funded it by selling their previous ground for housing. It has probably been explained somewhere before but how did the Football team, with crowds of 2,500, struggle to pay the bills and upkeep at the stadium, yet the rugby team, with a couple of hundred followers, can afford to play there?
