Someone with money behind it prthaps, the pitch rental might not be too expensive though. Boro Rangers and Billingham Synthonia have done the same this season. If they've got enough volunteers it should be ok.I like the title of their book they gonna write Darlington or bust feels like round two but with the darlo club starting in a lower postion. How can they afford rent on a 25k stadium starting a fan base from scratch
No hope of glory nowNice sherts tho..
What is it with Darlington and football teams? Surely the original Darlington FC at the Arena with all the social media design gubbins would be a step in the right direction.Bizarre.. I saw photos of the squad having look round the Darlington Arena only a week or so ago.
Mowden Park, the rugby club who own the stadium must have been duped too.
Darlo will never fill a 25k stadium not for any football team, not for any rugby team or indeed any other sport. The town is growing but is still under 100k population. That would mean that 1 in 4 of the total population from baby to granny would have to hove up at the Arena. And then you have the problem of a lot of the locals "supporting" NUFC, the north bound platform at the railway station before a mags home game is like a traffic jam on the Serengeti. The local football team has never had a pull from surrounding areas which tend to be either Boro, Sunlun, NUFC or L**ds.What is it with Darlington and football teams? It's a rugby town and lots of part time football supporters.. if the stadium was sorted and a few teams amalgamated.. it would be a worthwhile venture.Darlo will never fill a 25k stadium not for any football team, not for any rugby team or indeed any other sport. This nonsense was always going to end in tears. Didn't think it would collapse so quickly though.
The Chairman/CEO of Darlington FC is looking to build a new stadium, after ruling out a return to The Arena, because the maintenance costs would be astronomical in relation to their income. What is it with Darlington and football teams? how does mowden park afford it then? The Chairman/CEO of Darlington FC is looking to build a new stadium, after ruling out a return to The Arena, because the maintenance costs would be astronomical in relation to their income.
George Reynolds cut a boat load of corners to construct that monument to his ego. It's rumoured that the stadium was built using non-galvanised steel, cheaper, but far more prone to corrosion.
I believe that the stadium could host 25k if that many turned up. The point is they never will no amount of amalgamations or other manoeuvring will change that simple fact. The only thing that will happen in about ten years time is they will knock it down and build houses there. The railway line was supposed to be the limit of the town when the stadium was built but houses are going up over the road from the folly now. The clock is ticking for that structureGeorge Reynolds has a lot to answer for.. but the council could to more to alleviate the issue regarding the planning permission. what would be needed to allow 25k fans into that ground
I have no idea.how does mowden park afford it then?
I don't think it can. I'm pretty sure the ground has only ever had permission to host 10k max.I believe that the stadium could host 25k if that many turned up. I thought that was sorted out for Elton John when he played there?I don't think it can. I'm pretty sure the ground has only ever had permission to host 10k max.
