Dame Sue Gray

Johnson is a de facto tinpot despot, riding roughshod over decency, desecrating the position of Prime Minister with his actions and diminishing any trust we have in the ideals of governance, honesty and transparency, every day now there's a story which makes me question fundamentals that I thought were the reserve of Banana Republic's and their ilk.

Just this week for example:

How can you legally attend an illegal gathering ?
How can you play a leading role at an illegal gathering giving out prizes and making speeches and not be fined but the recipients of these prizes are ?
How can you have an in-house investigation into yourself, have meetings with the investigator and maintain its independent ?
Using the analogy of a speeding ticket or parking fine in relation to a Covid FPN, how can be caught speeding or illegally parked 6 times but only be fined once ?
How can you spend years negotiating a contract and then say you didn't expect the other side to act as defined therein ?
How can a footballer or actor arrested on a charge of rape be named but an MP arrested on the same charge has the right to anonymity ?
Why do we instruct British citizens not to travel to Rwanda because of its lawlessness, danger and corruption but think it's ok to send people who would like to become British citizens there to have their applications processed ?

I'd agree with everything here. Any rape or sexual assault allegation should be anonymous for every person, regardless of circumstance but sadly there will always be protection for the elite. We have a system that is utterly rotten to the core, foodbanks across the country and politicians who are able to claim 'expenses' totalling hundreds of thousands of pounds to employ family or pay for second homes and to eat whilst at work. I'm sure millions of people who love to get free lunches/dinners and drinks paid for by the tax payer, it's time for change and time to get rid of the HOP and have it virtual without the need to travel to London on great expense to the tax payer. It's about time people got into politics to serve and help people rather than to make money which is what a significant number of MPs have done on all sides.

I am still slightly shocked by the ambivalence or even in some cases support for him from the vast majority of tory MPs. I've always been ideologically opposed to their politics and they've always had a large minority of borderline far-right bigots amongst their ranks.

But I always assumed at the very least, most of them respected the rule of law, respected our constitution and would expect the holder of the office of PM to maintain certain minimum standards of behaviour, honesty and accountability. Even with many of the more moderate Tory MPs being purged for their opposition to brexit, I would previously have expected more of them to be saying enough is enough by this point.

Shame on them that they haven't. Johnson is what he is. A narcissistic self serving creature with psychopathic traits. He'll never change.

However, for the rest of them who refuse to speak out, surely any pretence of decency or patriotism they might previously have tried to maintain is surely long gone? I think its now safe to say without much doubt, the vast majority dont give a **** about the country, its laws, its reputation or its people.

The only reason to continue to back Johnson at this point is for their own personal gain and i think even right wing commentators openly admit the only reason they'll now turn on him is if it becomes clear him continuing will directly affect them personally.

Remember the famous quotes in history at Nuremberg - ".....I was only following orders". We're not at this stage of fascism yet, but the principal is the same. They are all as guilty as Johnson and his cabal. One or two speaking up here and there .......but the rest, any critical vote and they all toe the party line like good little Tories. Too many on the career politician gravy train and they want/need their £83k year + £200k expenses. If it means going against their own beliefs and opinions, so be it.

Rhinoceros

(French: Rhinocéros) is a play by Eugène Ionesco, written in 1959. The play was included in Martin Esslin's study of post-war avant-garde drama The Theatre of the Absurd, although scholars have also rejected this label as too interpretatively narrow. Over the course of three acts, the inhabitants of a small, provincial French town turn into rhinoceroses; ultimately the only human who does not succumb to this mass metamorphosis is the central character, Bérenger, a flustered everyman figure who is initially criticized in the play for his drinking, tardiness, and slovenly lifestyle and then, later, for his increasing paranoia and obsession with the rhinoceroses. The play is often read as a response and criticism to the sudden upsurge of Fascism and Nazism during the events preceding World War II, and explores the themes of conformity, culture, fascism, responsibility, logic, mass movements, mob mentality, philosophy and morality.

All joking aside this is truly scary

PM urged to explain Sue Gray partygate meeting https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-61531971

Yes it is. No-one can say they couldn't see this coming, knowing what a vile creature Johnson is.

Has the lying scumbag heard from people Gray has spoken to and concluded she is actually going to do her job and the report would be very damaging, so he has made up an excuse to meet her on another subject but has then put it about that they met to discuss her report, thereby wrecking it? He will then announce a new enquiry and kick the can down the road again.

Or is Gray actually as bent as he is? After all she is a high level civil servant so is establishment through and through and will likely protect her kind when push comes to shove.
