Dael Fry attracting suitors

No wonder, really. Having a great season. Wolves leading the pack( no pun intended) with others- West Ham, Southampton, Brighton monitoring him closely.

I hope he stays. Biggest plus is he is a home bird and enjoys playing for his local club. However ambition may override this if we don’t go up. So another reason for securing promotion this season!

I'd love him to stay and prove his abilities in the Premier League with us.

If he were to go, then I'd hope that it was to someone who'd value him (not like Gibson at Burnley) and that we got plenty of money so that we could sort a like for like replacement.

Imagine if he shuts down Harry Kane in the Spuzz game like he did to Ronnie...

We will be able to name our price (if we don't go up)

It’s natural. All good players in the Championship are in the shop window for PL clubs. He’s rightly ambitious and as you say we have to convince him next season to stay either by being in the PL or that we have an excellent chance to get promoted.

Hopefully we go up and then it won't be an issue.

It's a strange one really. Players often make the move to get themselves in the premier league, but the likes of Brighton are always potentially one season away from being back in the championship. If the clubs end up trading places then players must wonder what they're doing back in the championship at a random club they have no affiliation with

Given the comparison above, how does everyone think he compares to Gibson. Loved Gibson for his time at the club but think that Fry is way ahead of him. He is currently at a similar stage in his career that Gibbo was when we got promoted. But think Fry is more commanding and better with the ball at his feet than Gibson was. Considering we got £15m for Gibson we need to be looking at £20m+ for Fry, although not sure on his contract situation

I think the PL is the acid test.

Gibson and Ayala were both great in the championship.
Stepping up to the PL, Ayala got bullied but Gibson made the step up well.

I'm surprised BG hasn't sustained better PL form for other clubs, but he was clearly much better for us than Ayala was at that level.

How will Fry react to the PL? Hope we find out while he's here, but he will end up there one way or another.

I think Gibson was in a better position. When we were promoted we were known for our defence of which he was a key part. Ayala got more plaudits because he scored goals as well but Gibson was very good and he stepped up to the PL far better than Ayala did. Fry has a bit of advantage because he is the stand-out defender in our back 3 but it means there is more responsibility on him and we aren't an ultra-defensive team like we were back then.

Having watched them both I don't think there's a huge amount between them. They are both good, not sure either of them are good enough to play international or champions league football but good enough for a mid table PL team. If we go up and Norwich go down I'd like to see us bring Gibson back. Would be nice to have a proper left-sided centre back on the left side of the back 3 and he wouldn't break the bank.

Yes, a media frenzy around him and his relative price tag (30M + ) will emerge if he keeps Kane quiet and we squeeze past Spurs in the cup....arghhh.....

Love him to stay though obviously we probably need to go up...which I think he will and I think we could go onto have an excellent season in the Premiership under Sir Chris of Wilder.

Fry would need to play for one of the better/ footballing prem sides, as he's better with the ball than when under the kosh, but I don't think he's quite ready for that yet.

I don't think he had Ronaldo "in his pocket", as some have said, I just thought Ronaldo was misfiring, and nowhere near the level he once was, and we generally nullified Man Utd very well as a team. Saying that, I was quite well "lubricated" by the second half.

Be interesting to see how he gets on with Kane though!

Gibson was better for a prolonged period before moving.

Fry has been outstanding this year, and I hope he continues to be, but he was struggling badly in previous seasons.
Part of that was because he was being played on the left, admittedly.

Like the whole team he struggled in the first half and if United had taken some of their chances it would have looked a lot worse for him. But 2nd half and ET he was brilliant

I've said this before, it was quite clear from Chris Wilders interview when he first came and mentioned how hes known about Fry for a long time, that every Premier League club from 8th downwards will "know" about him and have a full dossier on his attributes, hence why so many different clubs are often linked with him. I would expect most Prem teams to have scouts that keep track of the progress of most England U-21's, 19's etc.

That being said, without him ever saying it, most in the know posters and just the feel about things, I would expect unless we decided to sell him and forced his hand, if we didn't go up this season, his only thought would be on a full season under Wilder and getting promoted with us next season.

On a side note, someone listed Gibson on Tik Tok as one of this seasons worst signings and all the Norwich fans jumped to his defence and said how well he's played this season.

It will be interesting to see if his head is turned, or if ours heads are turned with a decent money offer should the promo push falter.

To me, Kane is a difficult opponent- main reason is he drops so deeply. Not like a conventional striker who sees their place further up the field.

It’s his ability to shoot from anywhere with excellent accuracy , fry has to be in his shorts
