DAB Radio

I know it’s broken Britain but driving down the A19 listening to DAB radio with it constantly losing a signal is a joke. Surely technology must have improved by now to have this sorted??

Never have any problems. There's a blackspot on linthorpe road near the old ABC but otherwise the only time my car radio drops out is in the Lakes. My car radio is a standard fit in a cruddy Dachia. I drive two vans at work, same route every day. One drops out constantly, one never drops out. I think it's your radios, not the signal.

DAB worked great in my VW Tiguan and my VW Golf when I had that. Very rarely dropped out.

Average in Honda CRV. Some drop outs.

Crap in my old Ford Focus.

I am so happy to read this thread.

I have just upgraded the stereo in my VW van to one that has DAB+, and the reception is terrible, even with a new DAB+ aerial.

Thank heavens its not just me.

I get good reception in my car except for one dead spot at the exit from Morrisons.

In my house it can be good one day then the same stations break up the next.

Also my car radio is newer so may be able to receive DAB+ but I don't even know if any stations broadcast in DAB+. It was a roll-out mess from the start.

Not helpful to aa lot of people, but I've never had a single drop out here in Hertfordshire / north London. Even when up in North Yorkshire it's been pretty much 100% as well.

23 reg Volvo for comparison.

The car manufacturer and technology definitely is a factor. I drive the same routes in my VW as I do in my wife's Honda and the signal drops out a lot more in her car

My dab radio in the house won't work when it's sunny for some reason? If you move it into the shade it starts working. If in the sun it breaks up all the time.

How rubbish is that.

We have a Honda too and the only time I heard it drop off was yesterday in the North Pennines.

My old MINI suffers a couple of drop outs on my way to work. One in West Auckland and another in a little place called Cornsay Colliery which is in a dip in the hills of Durham. Otherwise fine. My wife's much more modern Toyota only drops out in Cornsay C. That said I mostly use BBC so either 6 Music, 5 Live or sometimes R2

Definatly worse in east cleveland since bilsdale mast went up in smoke the replacement mast is far inferior some folk between loftus and whitby still have no tv reception and my octavia reception is now very hit and miss from saltburn onwards into gods country
