Crypto experts

I’ve no idea how crypto works. I have premium bonds (maximum amount) which brings me winnings every month and I know if I need money fast, I can just sell them back. Is crypto as easy as this?

There's Bitcoin then there is everything else (most of which is useless crap).

Bitcoin has just had several ETFs approved in the U.S. The likes of Blackrock are now telling their huge list of clients to put 1 to 3% of their portfolio into BTC as it improves their sharpe ratio over time (risk vs reward).

Yes there will be ALT coins that outperform BTC but you have to get in early before the sheep otherwise you just become the whales exit liquidity. Most coins are useless or outright scams.

For what it's worth my portfolio is:

40% Total Market Index Fund.
20% S&P 500 Fund.
15% Nasdaq
10% Berkshire Hathaway.
5% Small Cap Value Index Fund.
8% BTC
2% ETH

The mistake most newbies make is trying to get rich quick and they put too much money in a volatile asset, and they panic sell once it crashes.
Compounding is your friend. Have a portfolio that makes you sleep easy on a night. Make as little changes as possible. Leave it alone.
Try to get rich slowly. If not, you will get rekt quickly.

P.S Microstrategy stock is good way to buy BTC. It's basically a BTC fund and you can put it into an ISA.

Bitcoin is built on speculation more than most other financial assets. It chief selling point its that it can't easily be devalued say like a national currency where Governement just print more to say pay off wrongly jailed postmasters etc and get rid of a problem. Pure Bitcoin is controlled by block chain technology, I believe a system of billions of interlinked messages from enormous data processor centres. I heard a coal mine was opened in Kazakstan to power just one data centre. There lots of crytocurrencies that are not bitcoin I honestly don't know why and that would concern me.

The digital native under 40s love it too, because they can trade by the second on their phones and they feel its their modern currency/speculation material.

Basically the more investors pile in the higher the price will go, many existing investors think it the investment of the future so are reluctant to sell hence the price rises.

What Bitcoin investors don't tell you is there no underlying way to value Bitcoin, unlike say buying shares in Alphabet (Google) and Apple. Some people will pretend to know what a good price for it is, but because it is built on pure speculation its impossible to say what is fair value.

Bitcoin pays no interest and at present is not used for buying and selling things (as we were promised 5 years ago) unless you are an internationl fraudster because it is impossible to trace ownership. It is a sort of digital gold, but real gold has some alternative uses e.g. jewellery, coins, electronics, dentistry and has stood the test of 5,000 years of human history.

Kazakhstan has a big crypto mining facilities because of how cold it is here in the winter, the summer it is too hot so will use lots of energy for cooling.

You can stake crypto, I stake my ETH and get 4.08% annual returns.

A few big banks & business started buying lots of bitcoin, taking it out of circulation for now. That forces the price rises.

Where will it stop? I’ve seen $500k mentioned as the top expected price. $100k this year as its ATH.

ETH im expecting $15k-20k eventually. Could be 5 years down the line.

I’ve got my target to pull out and pay off my house.

It has been going for 6-7 years now, making non wealthy people very wealthy, young people with normal jobs have made millions from gambling £1k very early when it was just one of those whispers to buy into.

We’ve had money making schemes like the dot com boom, people buying and selling reg plates at auctions, share tips, but crypto is out lasting it all as a timeframe.

I hope everyone involved and invested at the moment makes enough to have a comfortable life. It beats a bank savings account hands down for returns.
