I have little to no idea, nor trust in crypto, but I do have one coin/token that I’d like to invest in.

I’ve gone to the extent of opening an account on Coinbase, but then found they do not allow you to buy this coin, unless via the Coinbase wallet.

Can someone please try and explain the methodology in layman’s terms, please?

* I’m not planning to invest much, and the coin is a newish item produced by a company that a family friend works for.

Seems odd I just deposit straight into Coinbase. Problem is that most banks won’t support crypto deposits so I use Revolut to deposit into Coinbase which goes through without a problem.

Edit sorry misread your problem. Sorry haven’t used CB wallet but there seem to be step by steps online on how to link the 2 accounts.

I can deposit in to coinbase, but when I search for the coin itself (Autonolas) I can “watch” it but not buy it?

Why invest in said coin?
It was recommended by a family friend. I’m kind of interested in supporting her, whilst enjoying some of her success, should it prove profitable. I’ve missed the main boat, which started at $0.05 and now sits at $6+ less than a year later

I am no expert but as for opinion...

If a project is to be a success then whatever price you buy in at could be good or bad. Bitcoin is the obvious example...if you bought in at $2 or $1400 or even at $25000 you are still making money. How long for is the question and whether the ETFs riding on it keep his momentum going. Bitcoin is largely regarded as a store of value whereas good projects that are cheap to run, have utility and can scale should also prove to have intrinsic value but not all can succeed and some (possibly most) will crash and burn.

I think an overriding question is this, has anyone on this forum sold any bitcoin in the last 12 months AND recieved the value of the sale in their cash account possession (ie bank building society ) in a timely fashion ?

Yes? I also remember the thread well where so many people on here were ridiculed for being invested in Bitcoin when the bear market kicked in. Up 120% in the last 12 months 😉

I've earned about $52 via Brave Browser in the last year, no idea what to actually do with it though, I don"t understand the whole crypto thing

+$2k off Jasmy in a couple of months - nice

From a capped investment (gamble) of $1k my portfolio now stands at just over $14k and I have a spread of utility, enterprise and smart contract tokens that I am happy with. I already have limit orders on sales for most of the portfolio - it reaches those targets then I'm selling which I'd forecast would return just under £40k - with some retention of the tokens I like.

XRP
XDC
XLM
KAS
JASMY
HBAR
CSPR
SHX
VELO
BABB

A small amount of BTC & ETH - mostly used to move other tokens

It might crash and so be it - but I'll bow out long before $1k through the limit orders - as long as they work of course

As the 'experts' say not financial advice do your own research and only invest what you would be able to lose, the crypto market is far more volatile than normal stocks and shares.
I've no more than £200 in each of the above.

I use coinbase, kraken and etoro, you are limited on each of these which coins/tokens listed on them you can deal, there's literally thousands of different ones now. Frustrating when you've spotted a coin/token you can't buy.
And also from next tax year you can only make 3k profit before you pay capital gains tax.
