Craig Bellamy

Has anyone seen the latest episode of The Overlap?

Craig Bellamy, a player I always disliked is actually a really good bloke. He’s had loads of mental issues, but is learning to deal with them.

Just goes to show we should never make judgments without actually knowing the details.

Yeah enjoyed it. Very open and honest about stuff he did in the past too and took accountability for some mistakes.

It resonated with me. As my dad had mental health issues. I have inherited some of his traits.

Luckily my issues are not as big as my dad or Craig Bellamy. I thank God for that. Even though I am not a believer.

I really enjoyed that, thanks. Nice to see how honest he is about his attitude in his career.

I hope you can deal with any issues. The self doubt Bellamy talks about resonated with me. Lots of us probably feel a bit like that at times.

Proper chippy little b*stard as a footballer.....a player you loved to hate. Would have loved to have had him at Boro in his prime.

The older I get, the more I look at footballers like Bellamy as pantomime villains. Game finishes, greasepaint comes off, they are back to being "the person" rather than "the footballer". Lot of fans can't differentiate between the two sadly.

Hope Bellamy and all of the footballers (and normal people) like him get the help they need, and learn how to deal with whatever mental health issues they have to deal with 👍

I am sure he is brave and well meaning in opening up as he has, but he was an utter **** away from the football pitch for an awful long time.
I have personally seen his night time behaviour in Cardiff with his posse of minder and hangers on.
I am pleased he says he has moved on from all that nonsense and hope it lasts.
For some it will take more than a documentary to forgive some of his behaviour.

Thanks.

Touch wood I am reasonably OK. I still have the very fiery temper though. Also I still dwell on stuff too much.

Getting separated and divorced in my late 20s was crucial. It was a trigger for me to try to improve my behavior and my state of mind.

I get that but it seems to me he had issues that he didn’t even realise and was no doubt very immature. That is a terrible combination and no doubt made him believe the world owned him and he would lash out if thinking he didn’t get his way.

Listening to him talking with Gary Neville it clear he is dealing with stuff but it’s an ongoing process. He recognises that and even mentions still talking with a psychologist.

Maybe true and as I say I hope he is mentally well.
But be under no illusions just how horrible a bloke this was for a very very long time.
