Covid testing in this country - my experience

I was randomly selected to take part in covid testing so in order to “do my bit” I agreed to complete the test ( it was the swab test).

so It arrived last week and I did it as instructed as soon as I could sort out a courier to collect it.

this was last Friday as they advise that you do the test before 8am and only on the day of your collection, so I did it and off it went and it’s been almost a week and I’ve still not had any further contact no result no nothing so what was the point.

to think how much that all cost and then to have nothing to show for it ( personally) showed me just what a shambles this govt is doing controlling this disease.

anyone else had similar experience ?

I work on the covud testing study for the ONS , the people we test are only informed if they test positive and that can take up to a week these people are tested once a week for 5 weeks then every 4 weeks over a year

Ah right as the letter said I would be notified of the result regardless as surely after a week it’s now irrelevant anyway.

I was happy to help but it did all feel rather pointless

I did the ONS test and I was informed my test was negative both by email and letter but it was 4 days later for the email and then a further 4 days for the letter.

I have no idea. I got an ONS letter and completed a test as requested.
I got the same letter and by coincidence also had the test couriered back on Friday afternoon. Likewise, I've heard nothing yet either but I guess we are only 3 working days in.

From memory it was Ipsos Mori and a London University that were running it.

One of my daughters had a test at a mobile drive through centre at 10am last Wednesday & she had her results at 8am Thursday.

My girlfriend had a random test through the post And she was informed she was negative within a few days.

A mate of mine who is on the dole(permanently) has been taking part in a survey they are doing. He has had six tests so far and get vouchers for doing so. Had over a £100 in vouchers so far. Thing is he has never had any symptoms and only went for a test to see what it was all about.

He would have been pre selected , he wouldn't have "went for a test"
You can't just volunteer to take part

I got the random iPsos Mori letter. Test Kit came within 7 days and I got the result (negative) in 4 days - text and letter. I would like a test to show if I had ever had it but that’s not available yet. Given the complete mess the government are making of testing these random offers are actually quite useful
