Coventry v Wigan postponed.

Wasn’t their stadium used for the 7 in the Com games?

That could well ruin the pitch
The stadium is owned by Wasps Rugby club - Coventry rent the right to use it from them.
There is a dispute over whose responsibility it is to maintain the pitch to Professional Football League standards.
Coventry claim its Wasps responsibility and that they havent fulfilled their agreement.
Stalemate at the moment.
Somebody needs to get their finger out - soon.

Coventry City are considering taking legal action against their Coventry Building Society Arena landlords, Wasps RFC, over the state of the pitch, it is claimed today.

The Sky Blues have already been forced to postpone their first two home Championship fixtures of the season, against Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic, due to the poor Arena playing surface, as well as moving a Carabao Cup first round tie against Bristol City to Burton Albion 's Pirelli Stadium. Their home match against Huddersfield Town next weekend could also be reversed, with the club understood to be actively seeking a switch to West Yorkshire.

According to the Telegraph, Coventry could now sue their Rugby Premiership landlords for failing to provide a playing surface that is “safe and fit for purpose” and to compensate them for lost revenue. Their report adds: "The major escalation in the row between the two clubs follows the announcement that Coventry’s home match against Wigan on Tuesday had been called off following an independent pitch inspection."

Wasps chief executive Stephen Vaughan confirmed last week that it was decided in May not to relay the Arena pitch as planned, and that City were told of the decision. However, 65 rugby Sevens matches were played at the Arena in three days during the recent Commonwealth Games, and an independent EFL assessor has since ruled that the pitch is not safe.

Coventry have a 10-year license to play at the CBS Arena until 2031.

I posted the other week saying I had sympathy with Coventry as it wasn’t their fault but now that’s not the case they know they have an issue and have had time to find a solution so I think it is their fault now and sanctions should be made.

Not sure what solution the club can find to it, the EFL should just switch the home games to away games considering they knew for weeks that this would be an issue

Its a problem for policing and clubs getting the stewards.
There`s also the staffing of catering and other services.
It might be desireable for Cov, but might not be as easy to swap fixtures round until the issue with Wasps is resolved.

Coventry are 100% responsible IMHO.

I couldnt care less who they lease the stadium from or what else its used for, as a member of the Football League they have the sole responsibility to full fill their fixtures and to provide a safe playing surface.

Exactly this.. if our pitch were to be ruined by the Rugby World Cup later in the year (unlikely I know but theoretically) then why should we be dealt any differently to Coventry just because they don't own the pitch/stadium. They have a responsibility to be able to play the games as they fall due..
