Councils to be told to sell their assets

Councils do have to do things differently, we are in a cost of living crisis and councils have to accept that we all have to live within our means. Sadly this means councils will do less, the problem is councils are now just an arm of the government as not many councils have the ability to do much more than the statuary duties that the government of the day demands we have to do.
All the problems in society though are mainly based on public assets being converted to private profit seeking companies. From energy, water to the Royal mail

Then what happens is the councils have nothing left and no other means of generating revenue.
The torys want councils to cease to exist. All services in the hands of private corporations. Any non-profitable service will cease to exist. Needless to say, the corporations will be given monopolies either of service or locality. Or both.

Remember, you are a creature to milked until you are dry and then to be discarded.

We've been told and expected to sell our towns assets since 2010. The Tories have attacked councils by slashing the budgets, many of them are the last fragment of a proper civil society, which the Tories hate. Middlesbrough's budget has been slashed by 46% since 2010.
How much as it been slashed if you inflation adjusted it

Middlesbrough must be the only council in the country that spent the last two years BUYING real estate

Binns building, old ABC, Captain Cooks Square, Cleveland Centre

Wonder if we'll turn a profit when we have to sell it all
