Could potter really be sacked??

Sacking Tuchel to appoint someone like Potter, a fantastic manager building his rep at a brilliant club, but who had never worked with a squad full of egos as big as what he has on his plate at Chelsea, and expecting immediate results .. is bonkers. Don't understand it.

I get why Potter couldn't really turn it down, but still think it is a shame he went there as it marks a stain on his CV. The sooner he is out of there the better, IMO. There is another club out there a far better fit for him than this bunch.

Kepa 72m

Cuccurella 60m
Fofana 70m
Koulibaly 33m
Chillwell 50m

Jorghinho 57m
Kovacic 40m
Pulisic 58m

Sterilng 48m
Havertz 71m
Ziyech 33m

There's a bang average 12th place quality prem team, assembled for the princely sum of £592m. They've lost better players in Rudiger, Giroud, Geuhi and Abraham for less than they paid for a worse replacement

That club has been run terribly for 5 years.

Boo Hoo!
Should have been left to go into administration when the Russian was sanctioned.
IIRC worries about their financial future was even brought up in The House of Commons  Can't remember us getting such a touch in '86?
What's the point in the yanks buying them ? The petro-giants will now always be able to outbid them on players.

I was gutted when one billionaire was replaced by another set of billionaires.
They've had their 25 years or so in the sun - should really be allowed to collapse back into what they really are - a second rate club with nasty racist scumbag fans (mainly plastic).

I don’t think Todd Boehly has any real knowledge on how to run a football club, if I’m honest. I think Chelsea are going to really struggle to adjust in the next few years, Abramovich was for all his faults someone who broadly understood football enough to make winning appointments and now Chelsea have someone who will just pick based on name value and then will fail to follow an overarching philosophy. Could end up with them ending up like Woodward-era Man United.
Not sure I see it like this.

Abramovich relied on those who ran the club to make the appointments, both managerial and playing staff, with his involvement usually only to rubber stamp the choices.

Boehly seems to have a history of sticking with his choice from what I've read, rather than the shortermism of the Abramovich era.

I hope so because Potter has earned his chance, working up through a very unconventional route and seems to be a very decent fella.

Yes well summarised. None of them Potter signings. Many were Tuchels.

Letting Tuchel go and replacing with Potter was madness in my book. Potter is a good manager but Tuchel is light years ahead of him.

Recruitment has let them down primarily as they've been recruiting for different managers so frequently, remind me of Sunderland when they got relegated. There seems to be little consistency in terms of style and signings.

That said, I have high hopes for Felix, I've always thought he has the potential to be an incredible player, despite not showing it consistently (yet).

Havertz is another who needs to do more for me - I think he's actually gone backwards since moving to the EPL. Watched him at Bayer a few years back and it was one of the most complete performances I've ever seen in the flesh.

simon jordan mentioned that there was a specific reason tuchel was let go and if people knew the reason they wouldnt question it... so not always just about results. obviously only rumour but it didnt seem logical to sack him.

i like potter but he has his work cut out with that squad; ageing players like azpilicueta & jorginho, average players brought for massive amounts, players making stupid decisions on the pitch and soo many injuries. i think if you look a how bad mason mount looks tells its own story, a club void of confidence. Its great actually and everton too

I've always had the impression that Havertz thinks he is a much better player than he actually is. Always looks mardy as well.

Just going back to their normal level, never seen them as a big club, just been propped up by a crook. Their fans will get over it once they buy their Man City shirts. Long may their demise continue 👍

Tuchel was sacked for something other than results, Simon Jordan was alluding to it the other day but said it was Boelys story to tell, but basically said he had no choice and any chairman would of done the same including himself.
