As pointed out above Corbyn won more voters but the second referendum policy (Starmers) was a disaster. It's also why he won't talk about the EU now
Starmers policies are very aligned to the Tories. I actuality it funny people think there's a difference and that those who actually follow policies who think they are broadly similar have got it wrong.
Especially on things that voters say are key issues like immigration
Corbyn is gone and so have the policies and a Labour government will be marginally better.
Policies serve one purpose only - to persuade people to vote for you.
Leaders govern, including changing their mIndS, depending on how the land lies.
Once in power, depending on how the seats add up, you decide what you can/can’t do.
If you want to understand Starmer - look at what his views, on many things were, prior to him being in the running to lead the country.
Starmer is pro nationalisation, pro EU and pro decentralisation.
He’s also said he will abolish the House of Lords
Most of that is not ‘Tory’ thinking
