Conspiricy Theorists

I know of a person who is a full on conspiracy theorist. All the weird ones involving Covid, Sandy Hook, 9/11, Hilary Clinton, Joe Biden / Donald Trump etc.

I actually think things like Qanon or whatever they are called have stirred up a lot of people, and the effects on their mental health are worrying. She is not just a conspiracy theorist, but an "Evangelist" for those theories and feels the need to share them at every opportunity. It has already cost her a lot of friendships, and I do worry about where it will end. Impossible to reason with.

The greatest conspiracy theory ever?
Caesar's Messiah, presents the dramatic and controversial discovery that the conventional views of Christian origins may be wrong. Author Joseph Atwill makes the case that the Christian Gospels were actually written under the direction of first-century Roman emperors. The purpose of these texts was to establish a peaceful Jewish sect to counterbalance the militaristic Jewish forces that had just been defeated by the Roman Emperor Titus in 70 A.D.

Atwill uncovered the secret key to this story in the writings of Josephus, the famed first-century Roman historian. Reading Josephus's chronicle, The War of the Jews, the author found detail after detail that closely paralleled events recounted in the Gospels.

Atwill skillfully demonstrates that the emperors used the Gospels to spark a new religious movement that would aid them in maintaining power and order. What's more, by including hidden literary clues, they took the story of the Emperor Titus's glorious military victory, as recounted by Josephus, and embedded that story in the Gospels - a sly and satirical way of glorifying the emperors through the ages.

It’s quite a fun, believe it or not, read.

I am a church going Catholic and I could believe that.

Words my friend, do you believe Plato or Socrates said what was written by them?

Socrates never wrote anything. All of what we know about Socrates is from what other people wrote about him. Our main source of what we know about Socrates is from the writings of his student, Plato. Some of Plato's dialogues, such as the Crito and the Phaedo, are loosely based on fact.

I find atheists offensive and easily the most boring people I meet.
another extremist, broadbrush and extremely conflicted viewpoint from the class clown. why do I bother unhiding hidden comments 🤦‍♂️

Personally I know lots of atheists, christians, muslims, hindus that are funny and interesting I don't see someone religious believe or disbelieve as the beginning and end of a personality. But maybe I'm wrong and you are right and billions of people can be pigeonholed as boring based on one slice of their persona.

I was joking. See the message above mine. I will add class clown to Little Tory's litiny of insults. It's only a 3 out of 10 though, more effort needed.

The thing that always gets me is they can never say why. Sure, believe covid is a hoax, the earth is flat, vaccines have nanobots etc but why? What is the benefit to anyone of covid or the earth being flat? It doesn't make sense.

Who was the conspiracy guy that used to post on the old board? Problem with people like that making huge predictions about new world orders, hidden planets, 1 step away from true enlightenment type people is they eventually run out of excuses when their predictions fail to materialise again.
They'll just generally say "That's the thing, how can anyone know what (insert name of shady group that changes for each circumstance) are planning?"

I've also noticed that more often than not, members of these theorists smoke copious amounts of the ganj.

We should be very grateful to David Icke.

He's created a forum where all the loonies and conspiracy theorists can spout their rubbish and share plans for tinfoil hats to their hearts content without clogging up the rest of the internet.

If you want a good chuckle have a read of some of the threads.
