Conservative MP Peter Amess stabbed in Essex attack

I’ve not seen it - I see plenty of direct insults against those who voted brexit on a daily basis and plenty of anti Tory rhetoric - I mentioned an example from earlier today which I don’t want to repeat but that sort of thing is common place.
I wouldn't say common place. You need to separate the reaction to their actions and the hatred for simply being tory, it's mostly the former.

The horror of today's murder shouldn't stop questioning the government, and shouldn't deflect from the horror of the impact of some of their policies.

Agree, but don’t you think this has been coming given the tone in the country and voting that’s set up the Tories to win creating desperate individuals and then people who are genuinely sick to act in ways that are deplorable

There is a deeper aspect to all of this and if we don’t link the connections we learnt nothing
Has this horrific murder been put down to the murderer being desperate and sick of the government’s policies? I haven’t seen that. Apologies if I have misinterpreted your post.

If I understand you you are saying it’s justified abuse?
Not what I'm saying, and I think you know that, so please do us both a favour and don't throw such accusations around without really considering what you are typing.

I'm saying they have played a game of divide and conquer and created social discourse, the current culture is by invention not accident. I made no claim of them deserving, none whatsoever. Merely observed that the culture of hate was created by this government. They've spent a decade ratcheting it up. Brexit weaponised hate of foreigners, they portrayed people that wanted to remain as traitors. To the point that a Labour MP was murdered. This is all a matter of public record and you can easily find how the tories reacted to comments by Tracy Brabin asking for a change of tone by the Boris......he carried on his hateful and divisive rhetoric.

Corbyn, like him or not tried to ratchet things down, and this government doubled down. They are massively culpable for the culture of hate.

I'm also saying that calling someone who does an evil act evil is not the same as just saying everyone with a differing view is evil. Evil is where someone takes action with absolute understanding that it will cause pain and zero empathy for that pain. That's a strong, but accurate description of at least 4 or 5 members of this cabinet. Doesn't mean anyone is claiming they should be physically hurt for behaving as they do, just that they are held to account for this and ultimately removed from positions of power and corruption.

We were talking about on this board mart though I see you have shifted the goalposts as oft you do, coupled with some carefully chosen weasel words and the point is lost. Not this time the evidence on this board is on record in black and white.

earlier today someone on this board said they wouldn’t **** on a Tory if they were on fire.
Nobody batted an eye lid, it went unchecked. This sort of anti Tory stuff goes on here day in day out - it’s all there for you to read in black and white.

Oh behave yourself. I've shifted no goalposts, and none of my words are 'weasel', your response isn't unexpected though. I am not responsible for everyones comments, and yes, of course some people will take things too far with their words. But I stand by every word I posted as an honest and fair appraisal of where we are and why we are here.

I'm not shifting goalposts, I'm simply not being myopic like you. I'm looking hollistically at the entire problem and why we are here, if that is too complicated to see then I can't help you with that.

Yes, there's plenty of anti-tory stuff, most justified and some not. However it's largely reacting to policies enacted, statements made, corruption uncovered, there largely isn't hate for the sake of hate. The anti-labour stuff is actually largely personal attacks, because labour are not in power. It's all terrorist sympathiser, snowflake, libtard, woke etc. The idea being to undermine the concept of empathy. It's gotta stop or this country is FUBARed.

Talk on policies and hold people to account for policies. If the policy of a party is to sow division, call it for what it is.

Often- and quite rightly- this board gets cited as being a place for empathy, reasoned and genuine concern for the welfare and wellbeing of others.

This thread represents anything but this. Frankly, a number of posters need to take a long, hard look at themselves. The thread moved from one discussing the shocking death of a sitting MP to one hijacked for yet again a wider political rant that is - to me- totally inappropriate.

Whyfeel the need to deviate from what should be a thread with a focus on the murder of an MP?

You want to discuss politics in general? Fine. Start a new thread.

Frankly, this thread demonstrates that some want to be heard no matter what with posts I deem inappropriate. Hardly FMTTM’s finest hour.

A tragedy and awful loss, a woman has lost her husband, children have lost their father, this is not a time where the colour of rosettes matter but a moment to reflect on a human level on this appalling act, our revulsion and shock that a man, elected by the public to do a job, has been murdered in cold blood whilst undertaking those duties should be the focus of this thread, the wider debate, for me, can wait.

This is a terrorist crime not a political one. Asking for examples of anti-left wing bias on this board is pathetic so knock it on the head.

RIP - Nobody deserves to die this way.

I haven't read this thread throughout and I don't particularly want to based on this last page.
