Complete Lunacy - Norwich City Today

Fans are being allowed into Carrow Road today to watch their game live - in their ground’s restaurant!
So a curtain will be drawn across the windows so they can’t see the game going on the pitch.

Just baffling.

David Moyes came out angrily yesterday asking why fans were being allowed into a local cinema to watch the West Ham v Man City but not be safe in a huge cavernous stadium like Stratford. It just doesn’t make sense.
I kind of understand this in a Tier 2 area not encouraging fans to travel on the trains and tubes. Having said that they aren’t stopping commuters into the City.

Ridiculous, the fans would be much safer sitting outside in the stands, the scientists would tell them that, baffling.

The Governments official response is that the scientists have actually told them that it is easier to manage people in controlled areas like a cinema. I think that’s b0ll0cks frankly and another example, of which there are many, of Government muddled thinking.

I was one of the fortunate 1k fans to attend the home game a few weeks ago and it was very well managed and perfectly safe, it could have quite easily been replicated across the 4 stands, there was no congregating anywhere, only 3 people in the toilets at once, much better than having people sat inside in a lounge.

Wonder how many on SAGE regularly go to football or have actually seen the work clubs did over the summer to ensure crowds would be safe. Ditto for hospitality..

Are these actually Covid rules or something else? It was a good few years ago but I got the opportunity to go into a box at a game. The rules were that if you wanted to sit inside and have a drink, then the blinds had to be closed and you watched the game on TV, which was bizarre.

The continuing closure of stadia of all sports to fans whilst cinemas, hospitality venues etc remain open makes no real sense, a restricted phased opening should already have started and these venues should be able to bring in some revenue at least, it needs to be properly managed and controlled but I’m sure clubs and sporting organisations would be happy to comply with these to start to generate income.

As many have said there is absolutely no logic in allowing 500 people into a venue to watch a game whilst have a meal but not allow 500 people to watch the game from the stands with a pie.

Rather than continue to allow fans to sit behind a curtain, watching a TV screen of a match being played a few metres awaythey will probably pull the plug on it all if anybody flags it up.

Better to just shhhhhhh !

That was a by product of The law banning alcohol in the stands The Sports Events (Control of alcohol act) 1985. This appears to be a Covid related decision to allow hospitality to welcome people In to their premises.
