Close to signing Latte Lath .. ?

I wouldn’t say so.

If Crooks had been a failure, it was a fairly low fee and an acceptable punt.
He wasn't, so it was a great value signing.

This is 5 Crooks plus add-ons.

I think we were always going to struggle finding a cheap/low risk striker. We need one with a proven record - and even though it's in the Swiss league - it comes with a premium.

I like the look of him, so I'm not complaining about the signing, it's also probably only 1/4 of what we'd be paying for somebody like Archer.

It's just a big fee for one good season in the Swiss league and an okay season in Serie C.

I'm hopeful about him though.

€5m what’s that £4.3m. That’s a fairly big fee for a championship club, but not off the charts. Looks like he has the pace to run in behind, which we saw last season with Archer and even on Tuesday when we put Silvera at CF, is game changing for the way we play.

Let’s hope he’s got a finish in him and it could be a bargain.

Talk to Sunderland about finding and signing strikers!
Talk to Coventry....was it really £8m for Simms o_O

There is 10m euros difference between the Latte and Akpom fees which gives us funds (about £8.8m) for additional players.
Looks like we are paying about half of Akpom money on new lad.
5mill euro's plus 1.5mill euro's in bonus's and 10% sell on clause.
So no 8.8 mill pounds extra for additional players

Wages will be interesting.
Akpom was on a reported £27k per week - pretty chunky figure considered he had done nowt really when we signed him.
Striker market is nuts.

He looks good (on YouTube). Fast and direct. It’s our model now of buying low risk players. If they do it great! If not then financially we aren’t at a massive loss.

I remember this time last year we were all swooning over Strand Larsen and saying the club should just pay the €12m that they were asking for. Think he played 32 games and scored 4 goals last season. 😬

So true about Strand Larsen
It's so easy to end up signing a Carlos Kickabout when the deadline comes into view

To be fair to Larsen he was playing Barcelona and Real Madrid and not Wigan & Rotherham. It will have been a huge step up for him I think compared to coming here but age is on his side
