Chuba Akpom

He has scored the same amount of goals as Gyokeres and Riis and only 1 goal behind Pukki, but Akpom has played less games than all 3. In fact I can only see(with a brief look) a few strikers with a better goals to game ratio.
We haven't been on the best form this season either so up to now 5 in 10 is a good return. Whether he can carry this form on all season I'm not sure, but can't really complain especially from a striker who a couple of months back was training with the youth team due to not being wanted.

He was excellent today and his work rate was awesome. Thought him and Fry were really good. McGree was awful imo as was Muniz.

Exactly. We all get excited about the potential of new signings, but this guy is really starting to do a job for us. I hope he doesn't b***r off!

Put in a proper shift this afternoon, unlike Muniz - good at sauntering around the pitch at leisure. Thought Akpom put him to shame today.

What do gyokeres, Gayle, Riis, pulki have in common? Fewer goals per 90 than akpom. Imagine we'd spent 25 million on one of them! On top of that he is contributing to all round play. His past and future performance are irrelevant. Right now he is doing the business.
Akpom is the opposite of some of the strikers we've got rid of over the last few years. He works his backside off and he knows how to get it past the keeper if he gets the service.

He’s out of contract in the summer so we may lose him for nothing (another good bit of transfer business Mr Gibson)

He's played and done well this season a rare positive in it.
I was just reading an article about how older men tend to have less close friends, it seems to mostly arise out of an unforgiving or unflinching attitude, sounds like some posters on here who can't get over Chuba not having a great start to his career here and the poor old posters feel ever so upset that they won't play now and are still angry with him.

He's definately better as the droppy offy striker

I think he's still pretty useless as the main target striker though if we play him in a one as the number 9

Gives us a bit of a dilemma with his contract situation. Given his performance up to start of this season you'd have said we'd need a lobotomy to offer him a new contract, yet he's scoring 1 in 2 atm and if he kept that up for the whole season you'd be loathe to see him walk away. But you'd have to be wary that if we take another chance on him again he'd just revert to type once the ink dried.

To be fair he hasn’t deserved a contract extension until now. Had Gibson thrown a contract at him 6 months ago you would of criticised Gibson for doing so. No wonder he doesn’t communicate with the fans 😂

As I said in another thread, he’s the first name on the team sheet atm. He’s in good form and he’s had the balls to come back from Warnock disowning him, being shipped out on loan for two seasons and then being told he’s surplus to requirements and to find a new club. Well done sir!

I’d be offering him a cheeky one year extension and encourage him to keep going and earn a longer one.

Chuba is our player Muniz is Fulham's. I know who I would be playing at Hull and who wouldn't.

Both are currently set to leave in the summer, so I don't think that should play in to the thinking.

We should bring playing those who are playing best, regardless of whether they're on loan or not.

That is indisputably Akpom right now.
