Chuba Akpom why did we sell him

Got the chance to play in a top division for a top club rather than the championship.

Why would he stay?

Even doing nothing at Ajax will not damage him, but staying with us might have, especially if we were in the same position in the league as today

We didn't try to keep him is my issue we didn't even make an attempt.

I think that the risk was too much for the club. If we offered him a big contract on higher wages and it didn’t work out it would have cost us millions.
I take your point though - we are really missing him.

I do as he would score the chances we keep fluffing and scoring goals complelty changes dynamics of games
Like he did the previous seasons we loaned him out?...... problems at the club are far greater than a Mr C Akpom. He was in his last year of his contract, cash in and move on......albeit for far worse recruitment.

Because a club like MFC can't turn down £12 million in the hope that -
* the club is promoted
* and he is prepared to sign a new contract at Prem League wage levels
* he doesn't get injured
* he has another great season

Easy to say you'd take that gamble when it's somebody else's money.

I do think he wanted to stay. Understandably also wanted an improved contract.

Club had fingers burnt by the likes of Assombalonga saw the £££ and probably, all things being equal, reckoned they were better off cashing in than having a big earner tied to a deal off the back of one good season.

I don't think there's much more to it than it.

I think it was a mistake, but my guess is that was the rationale behind it all.
