This feels very much like setting things up so their MIGHT need to be a lockdown (even when one isn't in the pipeline) to then claim victory closer to the time when we avoid one.

Instead of the absolutely ridiculous push of freedom day, keeping very low key measures in place would have likely meant we wouldnt even be having this conversation right now. Its not like the experts didnt warn him time after time this would happen though

Fully agree, especially the 2nd paragraph. That is exactly the tactic, hollow as it is, but what more could we expect from a govt entirely bereft of competence
