Chris Wilder Pre Swansea Press Conference on Friday

I don't think anyone really knew about it until afterwards, McClaren's performance as England manager is what put him off English clubs, be did well at FC Twente.. not so much at Wolfsburg, or Forest, did OK back at Twente, alright at Derby-ish Dreadfully at Newcastle, meh at Derby again, then struggled at QPR - he's a good coach and will do well as Assistant at Man Utd imo
Of course his England performance did for him but I think the blind ambition did for him before that. He became an untrustworthy character.

Yes, journalists would never stop telling me about how he nearly joined Leeds - they didn't like him from the start. In those days they wanted their manager's to give them info off the record. In the few times I was present McClaren would not do this. But then someone would turn to me and say he was trying to join Leeds. I used to say, so what? But it meant a lot to the media and that was that for him with them.

Routine defeat saturday ....piroe and obafemi to bag at least one each. We cant score to save our bacon with current form.

I think we'll score. We're more likely to do something on the break than when we face 10 men behind the ball, and they conceded 4 against Reading at the weekend

How come? I think Warnock alluded to as much when he was here at the start of the season!
He doesn't inspire me. Went up flamboyantly, then came down bottom with 21 points, went up pragmatically, then lost 15th PL game on bounce and got sacked and they will go down bottom yet again.
It is good to have gone up and they've done it 5 times this century, but they've had 7 seasons in the PL this century as a result; and been relegated 5 times including this.
It would be a step down from Wilder I think.

It would be a rediculous move for him though, wouldn't it? I don't think McClaren ever truly recovered after tarting himself around, it showed he had no respect for clubs, fans or chairmen. That always limited his future options. Ambition is good when controlled, but unbridled ambition is an ugly trait, it makes you untrustworthy. He would immediately put himself into a **** or bust scenario with Burnley, enormous pressures that could break his career.
Since posting that I've discovered that he threatened to leave on three separate occasions at Sheff Utd, only to stay, with an improved contract of course!

So maybe this is done brinkmanship on his part to get a better deal?

Either way
reminder: Wilder hasn't actually done anything wrong other than a bad interview on Sky after a bad loss.
It's actually two interviews and to be fair it's a matter of opinion, mixed with some informed speculation, as to whether he's acted wrongly I think.

They should really start doing these press conferences live again so we can see the truth not just what the media write

I personally thought it never worked, because it was never done on time and plenty of people had issues tuning in.

England do the Southgate press conferences live on Twitter and they're a nightmare because you miss loads that's said if you don't join exactly as it starts.
Though that's not helped by the fact they don't upload the interview afterwards.

It’s at least three bad interviews.

He was first asked at Bournemouth and I can’t remember if Sky asked him and if the written press also asked? But there’s quotes following Bournemouth.

He was then asked by sky and the written press after Huddersfield. It’s poor form, on and off the pitch.
