Chris Wilder’s REAL philosophy and tactics - watch the video

Most goals are scored from set pieces.
Graheme Taylor told me

Never mind all that complex tactical stuff. Just get in behind Les.
This is a test.
It is a test

Its going to be a complete culture shock to some of the players, to work all that out. Especially those that have played under Pulis and Warnock

Hopefully once a few have watched the vid it will end all the long ball rubbish I’ve seen over the last 24hrs as it’s simply not the case. He’s an innovative young up and coming coach with an impressive and cv esp in this league.
But how and why did it all go so badly wrong in that relegation season. I hope we don't get to find out

I’m very positive about this appointment. Our squad seems to be ideally suited to his style of play with Fry, McNair, Howson and eventually Wood playing out from the back and Hall, Bamba or again Fry in the holding CB role. We have the wide players and the forwards to put the graft in. It sounds like we’re going to get some signings in when the window opens too.

Yes there is no doubting his ability but my doubts lie in how he reacted to poor results the following two seasons. How will he work with the D of F? He is on record as saying he wants full control of transfers and yet his record isnt a great one judging by who they acquired there with the money.
Yeah, very fair concerns and the only question marks really.

I think what killed Sheffield United that second season was they got off to an absolutely awful start, didn’t they lose their first seven? And after that it’s a bit of an uphill struggle.

Plus no crowds during COVID like others mentioned which is a bigger advantage for smaller underdog teams and general second season syndrome.

And, Brewster was a disaster. Didn’t he just score his first goal for them the other day after 40 appearances or something?

To be honest though I’ll forgive him for signing one disastrous expensive striker, still about eight short of the disastrous expensive strikers we’ve signed over the last 15 years! Britt, Chupa, Alves, Fletcher, Boyd, Rhodes…

What we can expect

Really interesting that, cheers for sharing zorro 👍🏻

A couple of things that stand out for me, if indeed we do try to go down this route, is that it relies on having a top quality keeper, two CB‘s who are technically very good on the ball and having two hard working strikers who will chase and close down.

The jury is still out on Lumley and Daniels, and maybe only McNair fits the CB who is good on the ball. Dijksteel possibly. Sporar might have to adapt his game a bit, but I think Watmore can play the striker role. We are going to need a few signings in January and wouldn’t be surprised to see some (even recent acquisitions) leave.

With our current squad…

……..Watmore…Sporar

…..Payero…Crooks…Tav

Bola………………………..Spence
…….McNair…Bamba…Fry

………..….Lumley
