Chris Short Leaves the club

Why would you say you hate him? Did he commit mass genocide that most of us didn't know about?

Because I do, and I've covered it before multiple times. Hate is of course a strong word, but used quite often on this board about other players / managers and so I mean it in the same context as that.

Let me spell it out simply for you.

I dont like him, but to criticise him for bringing his own backroom staff in is stupid, as every other manager does exactly the same, including Wilder.
Why didn't you say that in the first place then instead of posting some sort of coded message.... Ridiculous tbh

ok Let me answer this HE WAS NEVER part of Neil Warnock back room staff before though. Hence my post.

He was though one of his ex players…

Short, who played under Boro boss Neil Warnock at Scarborough FC and Notts County, will take on the role of first-team fitness coach at the Riverside.

it looked at the time likes jobs for the boys and the fact we’ve binned him almost 3 months later suggests that the club weren’t too enamoured with him.
Look, Warnocks gone you've got what you wanted and yet you're still having a go at him.
You just need to let it go now for god's sake....

I edited as I thought exactly that

I didn’t get what I want. Whatever that means

He was going anyway so was a busted flush and I do think he was dialling it in this season

You wanted Warnock out....time for you to move on like the rest of us have👍

I listen to Terry Gibson’s podcast with Jon Driscoll and this week he had a lot to say about the number of injuries Barcelona are carrying. It was a very interesting listen with a lot of insight, much more than you get elsewhere.

Anyway I think some of what he was saying could be applied to Boro. We pick up quite a lot of bits and pieces in training and Gibson’s point was that you should never pick up muscle injuries in training. You should be warmed up properly and training in managed bursts, gradually building up to the next game, but a lot of clubs don’t do that and do a ‘one size fits all’ approach. He said he was the coach for years with Wycombe and Northern Ireland and never picked up a muscle injury in training, and that was one of the things he was most proud of from his career. When he went to Fulham with Lawrie Sanchez he wasn’t allowed to take warm ups and bits of training as there was an army of backroom staff and sports scientists who did it instead.

I thought it was interesting that Warnock brought in Chris Short when he knew it was his last season. But maybe that’s one for the club, why are they letting managers on their way out hire more staff.
Shocking to think that this still happens . I was thinking about Warnock's dietary comments earlier today too. I remember when Robbo got someone in to deal with food matters etc and it was made to sound like a new thing, I just assumed that was the norm even back then but obviously not.
I hope the new team have a better handle on the players re diet and fitness.
I would be taking frequent blood tests etc

Didn’t Warnock blame one of the defeats on the players missing breakfast, was it away to Coventry….😀

Yes , I just can' t believe it . This is a top level team and surely this type of stuff should be monitored non-stop.
Jesus, they don't do that???

I would be tracking all their meal times, calorie intake, macros, food diary and set every single one of them a program, and then be checking their levels randomly.

When expending 1000 calories an hour competitively, the food intake before is so, so important. Need to be totally carb loaded the night before, a decent meal a good 3-4 hours before, top up glycogen and then refuel with light, high energy, fast absorption foods just before or during.

I never actually realised it much in football, I just sometimes (half the time) thought I wasn't with it. As soon as I learnt a bit about when cycling I realised that's why I was dying after an hour when not loaded up a few hours earlier and why I fell off a cliff after two hours if I didn't top up during.

I totally have it nailed now (everyone's timings and requirements are different), for me I need to eat about 4 hours before, so it's well and truly metabolised by the game/ ride, and if it's only 1-2 hours before it does more harm than good. Then after an hour or at half time an energy gel or something like that as a top up makes the world of difference.

I'd let them have what they want the night before, as long as it was high carb, and on game day have them all eating within their pre game window, controlling the make up of what they have and certainly wouldn't have them all on the same thing at the same time, pre game.

I normally get up at 7, but if I had a 10am ride I would get up at 5 so I had an hour awake before breakfast, leaving 4 hours before the ride, as I can't stand eating as soon as I wake up.
