He only joined in the summer, So it was jobs for the boys after all then, as god knows what he did.

Chris Short, who arrived as part of Warnock's team in the summer, has left the club and Prestridge will take over those duties, describing his role previously as having evolved from just a fitness coach to far more than that.

Sounds a bit of a change of the old regime

Prestridge has, like Knill, worked with Wilder since Northampton Town and was credited with being the major factor behind the Blades being one of the fittest and hardest working sides in the Premier League during Wilder's tenure there. It was those fitness levels that allowed them to play in the positive and expansive way they did.

Is Frankie Hunter still at Boro? I think that she was moved aside for Chris Short.
It seems like Chris Wilder has less of an old school approach with his recent appointments.

We’ve had far too many injuries in the last couple of years and I’m glad it’s something Wilder has already recognised. I don’t know the numbers, and I’m not trying to point the finger, but it feels like it got worse with Short as the fitness coach.

I think Frankie Hunter is working with the academy these days, but she is highly thought of in the game.

Not getting into that rumour thread again but there was definite whiff of cronyism about Warnock tenure here wasnt there.
Whereas wilder is appointing people completely unknown to him.
It is pretty standard that the majority of managers bring in their own team who they trust.

But it did seem odd we had a young lass doing it for his first 14 months in charge, and when his tenure had 10 months to run she was moved aside for some old fella from quite far down the leagues.

For me you would have to question if he was an upgrade.

I listen to Terry Gibson’s podcast with Jon Driscoll and this week he had a lot to say about the number of injuries Barcelona are carrying. It was a very interesting listen with a lot of insight, much more than you get elsewhere.

Anyway I think some of what he was saying could be applied to Boro. We pick up quite a lot of bits and pieces in training and Gibson’s point was that you should never pick up muscle injuries in training. You should be warmed up properly and training in managed bursts, gradually building up to the next game, but a lot of clubs don’t do that and do a ‘one size fits all’ approach. He said he was the coach for years with Wycombe and Northern Ireland and never picked up a muscle injury in training, and that was one of the things he was most proud of from his career. When he went to Fulham with Lawrie Sanchez he wasn’t allowed to take warm ups and bits of training as there was an army of backroom staff and sports scientists who did it instead.

I thought it was interesting that Warnock brought in Chris Short when he knew it was his last season. But maybe that’s one for the club, why are they letting managers on their way out hire more staff.

Frankie Hunter is at Hull City according to her LinkdIn. Weird one as she was very well thought of I thought.
