China not even pretending now are they

Oh hang on Hawaii wants independence, anyone know if China will swoop once they get Independence? Maybe China will [try to] surround Hawaii and do the same as US is doing in the SCS. It's all part of the political gaming that we've gone through for the past 1000 years or more. Roll the dice and see what happens, who dares wins.

Hawaii doesnt want independance, a minority of Hawaiians do but the vast majority of the population want to remain part of the US.

Crucial to the people that live there.

The fact that certain governments have terrible policies on Palestine and Yemen doesn't negate that fact when pertaining to Taiwan and Ukraine.

What is interesting here is that it is China that has finally made the breakthrough in getting the war in Yemen to end, not the US. The US backed government of Yemen operated out of Riyadh. I think the very early beginnings of subtle shifts away from the US are beginning.

The arms going in and out of Yemen and the surrounding countries keep a lot of money flowing into the US.

Why is Gibralter not Spanish?
And why is Northern Ireland not just Ireland?
And still our mistakes live on. Palestine. And Iraq.
And people winge about the Yanks!

Of course, they've profited off wars for over 200 years, why should now be any different? My point was more around China isn't all bad, and we should call out the good they do, which in this case is getting the Saudi's and the Iranians around a table to try and end this conflict. Something the western powers either failed or were not interested in doing.

I’d say that Gibraltar isn’t Spanish for the same reason Cueta and Mellila aren’t Moroccan.
The majority of the immigrants to Ulster were Scots, not English.
The state of Israel was agreed by a declaration of the United Nations, not the UK.
And comparing the UK to Hitler us a slur on those who died in WW2. You’re trying to be cool and worldly, but your ignorance is clear.

China will play the west for trading benefits and at the same time exploit and support Russia as far as they can without compromising their own position, it’s what they’ve done for the last year.

I think they’ll play the longer game with Taiwan, keep their options open.

The British Empire was responsible for unspeakable atrocities across the globe, in common with Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Whether the overall contribution, including agricultural and medicinal education, was positive, that would depend on how you allocate and implement a J S Mill or Jeremy Benthamite utilitarian scoring scale. Not really clever, just something I did at uni. ‘Utilitarianism is just the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people. Tricky but is how you rate stuff.
Yes we have form, along with many others.
 
Think people who **** on the US are going to regret it when China make a play for Taiwan .

Because if China takes Taiwan , we are ****ed in terms of semiconductors needed for tech .

100% China is the aggressor if it attacks . We would have to assist along with the us in defending it too and it is very much arguably ww3. My only hope is the EU sides with the US when the Ukraine war ends and distances itself more with china .
 
EU / Europe needs to make itself strong - militarily - as if Trump gets back in power I think the US could soon exit NATO.. at the very least say as far as NATO goes Europe takes the lead.

China is an oppressor of its own people & of other countries it is becoming more so.. as the US & others have done for decades..
