That's true but on the other handThat was Liverpool's first FA Cup final in a decade, and last season a brand new team won it?
Chelsea have been in 5 of the last 6 finals
Arsenal have won 4 of the last 9 finals

I take your point but Liverpool recently beat Chelsea in the League Cup Final and how many times have Chelsea been in the FA Cup Final? That was Liverpool's first FA Cup final in a decade, and last season a brand new team won it?

Liverpool's honours list - you have to feel for them only being in a FA Cup Final once in a decade.

I agree with the saturation of football on TV but I also feel it is the same teams over and over doesn't help.Chelsea have lost 4 of the last 6 finals.
Arsenal have won those 4 whilst comparatively struggling in the league, so it's not really an indication that it's a closed shop.
I'd argue that people are less interested because there's a hell of a lot more football on TV than there was in the "glory days" and the fact it's no longer a rare experience to watch a match takes some of the shine off the FA Cup.
Obviously the financial disparities caused by European football and ownership has made it less unpredictable than it used to be, which is a shame, but I think there's more to the decline in relevance than a few clubs have been in the final a lot lately.
Sorry TeaCider, I am just linking all finals and not being fixated on the FA Cup.That's not what I've said.
Your reasoning was that it's always the same teams in the final now, and it isn't.
I presume you still liked the FA Cup in the 80s and 90s despite it also largely being contested by a limited spread of teams?
I'm suprised David Attenbrough didnt comment on it ''and here we have an FAC final with a very, very rare species in the final against their opponents who play here at least once a season''That was Liverpool's first FA Cup final in a decade, and last season a brand new team won it?
I read an article in the racing post about the fa cup. In the 10 previous years, and this was in the 80's only 1 of 5 teams had won the fa cup. As I recall it was arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, spurs and man utd. That's not what I've said.

I remember in the 90s one team was in three finals in a row and two of those were against the same team. That's true but on the other hand
Chelsea have been in 5 of the last 6 finals
Arsenal have won 4 of the last 9 finals
