Chav Boro supporters

Agree entirely Rob. Its not just a football issue; it cuts across all aspects of society. A circumspect and pragmatic approach is required. Football mirrors society and cant be made accountable to "solve" all its problems. We all have to take responsibility (y)
Yes, I agree it is a society issue. Am not wanting to label all these lads as chavs either. Clearly things have changed in society but there could be consequences in football for better and for worse.

Warnings, bans etc. Plenty can be done. The rest of us shouldnt have to suffer because a few cant handle a drink
Those avenues are already available to police and the football clubs.

Was it all alcohol fueled?
What of the "Football Lads Alliance" and politically motivated violence?
Are you suggesting more stewards, or police, at matches?
It hasnt worked well in the past.
The same issues are still with us.
Its not about who should - or "shouldnt" "suffer" - that doesnt begin to resolve the issues.
We have to move on.
Glad we can have the discussion. (y)

Agreed. Its always that we get smeared as "hooligans" ....or "football hooligans" by the media - as if it doesnt happen or exist anywhere else in the country.

I can't agree with the argument that "the South stand generates all the atmosphere, so you should all just put up with loutish behaviour"

Red Faction have been there all season and have done great things in terms of generating an atmosphere, and done it with a social conscience too. The atmosphere was great vs Bournemouth with, at most, 18k in the ground.

It's only been in the first and last home match of the season that there's been any trouble: pitch encroachment, booing taking the knee, fans offering away fans outside etc.

These are not the same fans that have been generating the atmosphere all season. They may also sit in the South Stand, but that shouldn't mean they can hide behind Red Faction.

The point being that all those quick to condemn and shout about the "law" are behaving hollier-than-thou. As you and I know, things are never that black and white.
Ohh but to a lot of people on here things ARE black and white, and they are unwilling to change that view , which to me means they either have had an incredibly sheltered life in general , or are just plain ignorant .

Not having a pop but generally interested why you think cocaine being legalised is a good thing?
I know you're not having a pop mate. Its a reasonable question to ask.

I'm just leaving work so I'll get back to you in 45 mins or so

That may be so and people do change their views according to personal experience. Ultimately we all want whats best for the Boro and stay safe. (y)

That's very true , everyone makes mistakes in life , its how you learn from them that's key

Beggars belief that people would in any way vouch for, lessen or try to rationalise these idiots behaviour. It has been going on too long and is getting worse. It will stop people bringing the next wave of young fans to games as to avoid having to them hurt or upset. It’s not acceptable, it’s not just lads having a drink and being rowdy - it’s complete thuggery and criminal activity. Drug taking, violence and criminal damage should not have to be tolerated. Never.

Making it a criminal offense to use cocaine really has stopped it from being trafficked and used by millions hasnt it?!!
No one uses cannabis / heroin / MDMA / or oither illicit substances do they?
"War on drugs" - codswallop.
Maybe make it legal up for 14 year olds, or to be a bit safer maybe 16 year olds?
Let's have some coked up driving lessons to make it safe to snort and drive?
We can all do sarcasm.
Weed I sort of get but liberalising cocaine?
The mind boggles at the sheer stupidity of it

Im suggesting absolutely none of that - but this "war on drugs" is a strap - line for newspapers and media.
Its crap - all evidence and the experience working at the coalface, points to the increasing availability of all kinds of illicit drugs and the complete failure of the current strategy to do anything about it.
As for children and drugs - there is real evidence of drug dealers hooking school children and using them as suppliers in schools.
Unfortunately thats not "sarcasm", but a fact.
"Drug driving" has had a major impact on road accidents and fatalities.
Ask the school children and teenagers if politicians words and scathing tracts in the media has stopped "shopping" of illicit drugs where they live.

Too bloody true it has, and I see it every week at work.
What a waste of a life….

If only there was a country that had successfully decriminalised personal possession of drugs that could be used as a blueprint for the rest of the world to follow.

I’m not making an argument either way, but it’s thought provoking.

Back to the supporters. If seats were damaged at Blackpool on purpose it really is bad behaviour. It would also be another example of bad actions by certain Boro fans this season.

Remember QPR at home and the poor lad who received a kicking for being a QPR fan? Nobody can argue against that one.

I think Rob's point about it not only being Boro is very interesting too. I actually observed Forest fans on the bus on the way in on Boxing Day hitting windows and making aggressive gestures to everyone. A few Boro fans responded in kind, but most shrugged and rolled their eyes. Football in general seems to bring out the worst in some people. It's us versus them and people think it's a war or something. It's not lads, it's a game of football and it doesn't really matter if you lose.

It seems to me that something has changed over the last 10-15 years. When Boro played in Europe our fans were impeccable, no arrests if I recall correctly (which is unusual for an English team). I fear if it happened again, a section of our support would be an embarrassment.
