Championship top scorers 21-22 - Realistic Striker Targets?

It's not Wilders record buying strikers I'm worried about it's ours. Invariably when we spend a lot of cash on a striker they're *****. And every time we spend all that cash we have to cut elsewhere. Buy Britt sell Bamford. Buy alves sell your midfield.
The best forward we've bought since relegation isn't Britt or braithwaite or Fletcher who we spent a fortune on. Or even hughil or akpom we spent less on. It's watmore who we picked up on a free.
Really hope we don't spend all the Spence money on some tart who picked up 20 goals because he's got a decent team behind him.

Sorry, but Cole Stockton does not get a Champ club promoted

Cole Stockton scored 26 goals for a team who nearly got relegated, but he may be a risk, so i swap him out for Balogun back on loan , or Gayle on loan, or a wild card in Dany Motta on a free, or Shamar Nicholson CF Spartak Moscow on a loan.
Hope it doesn't end with Mcgoldrick and Rhodes.

The thing with 20 goal strikers is they got the 20 goals for the team we bought them off not for us. I think buying a 20 goal striker would be a terrible investment. It would also show we never ever F***ing learn. I mean we've only just got the last hotshot out of the door. I think he's warming someone's bench in Turkey now.

Agree with this completely, all that ends up happening is that we sign someone for a fortune on ridiculous wages and then when they fail we get lumbered with their wages for 4 years because no one else is stupid enough to pay them what we are. If we want to go big on a striker I think it either has to be on loan or for a deal that is structured based on goals or promotion. I love Gyokeres, I think he's brilliant but I know how cursed we are with strikers, If the deal was something like £7m and further money if we got promoted then I reckon that's fair enough but £18m without addons would be ridiclous.

I know nothing about Cole Stockton other than his goalscoring record but it's low risk, I don't hate that signing at all with where we are at the moment.

If we signed Stockton, Twine, Gayle and that Gyokeres lad i'd be well happy, compared to the dross we've seen recently but as always proof is in the pudding.

That we appear though that we would have some proven goalscorers at this level there, with some low risk attackers who are hungry to prove themselves, and being around better players will help them no end.

The highest scoring teams are always the teams that are promoted. Clean sheets help a bit, but nowhere near as much as a couple of guys banging in 20+ goals.

The "spread the goals around" notion is just something dreamed up to take the pressure off poorly performing strikers.

Spreading goals around is still important though. Even if you get a 20 goal striker and 3 others hitting 10, you still need to be finding another 20 goals or so

My view Is you need 4 forwards who are goalscorers/assists on the pitch at once, with backups to come on who also know where the net is. My examples

Jack Clarke/ Kebano ---Ohare/Archer/Pritchard/Marko Livaja--Adam Armstrong/Jones/ Obafemi

Cornick/Watmore-------Dany Motta/Pep Biel,/ Twine----------Ivy Lopez/ Denis Undav
Add the goals / assists up for each player and you get enough goals and assists to win games . Mcgree can fit either group , Tav may go IMO reluctantly , I would love ilias Chair in a Boro shirt but doubt we can afford him.Same with Gyokeres and even maybe Piroe. Coburn out on loan.BIG window this, I hope we get it right.
