Championship Ins and Outs

Always interesting to look at where other teams are in the Championship window. It is all too easy to look only at what we are doing and panic a little, but looking at the ins and outs below, very few teams really stand out as having had a fantastic transfer window and I think like most clubs, we still have work to do. There is always a bit of a chain reaction once Premier League clubs have done the bulk of their deals. Two other thing that are also clear -
1) very few fees actually announced these days
2) there are so many players I have never heard of...

Said this yesterday.

People are panicking that we haven't got the players we need - but I would say all of the other Championship clubs are in the same boat.

Last two weeks of the transfer window looks like it will be even more mental than usual.......or a lot of clubs are genuinely skint and can't afford to do a lot of business.

I'm confident (or naive.....) that another 3-4 senior players will be brought in by end August 👍

It's a good point, and i've been saying the same thing, replying on several posts.
Not sure why many of our fans are panicking, yes we've lost our loan players from last season, but so have many Championship clubs.
The market is slow, due to teams reluctant to commit to selling or loaning out there players, im sure things will speed up before 1st Sept.
I'm also confident that having Carrick in charge will be a huge draw for players coming to our club. Time will tell.

Haven't been keeping up with this at all. Aaron Ramsey at Cardiff??

Hull look to have recruited well. Up hill battle for.Warnock I think.

Birmingham and Coventry are the standouts so far for me, excluding the relegated teams. Although not sure if Cov have replaced the goals they’ve lost in Gyokeres.

That being said, Leeds haven’t done much and they’ve let a lot go. They have a very young squad.

West Brom fans must be nervous.

The difference is most clubs stand still whereas we were so heavily reliant on loans that our squad is severely weakened by standing still. Not to mention our best player might be leaving and hasn't shown his face yet this preseason.

Birmingham have had a great window so far...
Signed Krystian Bielik and Dion Sanderson permanently (both did well for them on loan last season)
Sold Tahith Chong to Luton for £4m - brought in Koji Miyoshi for free.
Lost Maxime Colin to Metz - brought in a ready made replacement in Ethan Laird.
Released Troy Deeney who although played 30 odd games last season is now 35-36? - brought in Tyler Roberts, 24 year old striker from Leeds.
Surely Siriki Dembele and Lee Buchanan go straight into their starting 11 too.

Stoke also look like they've improved the first team with 4-5 players.

QPR released Luke Amos - Pretty sure we were in for him a few years ago... Still only 26 - CDM - Could be an option as cover for Howson.

It is always difficult to judge championship transfers - so many are based on potential rather definite success.

Often the best players are unexpected - youngsters breaking through, lower league players proving they can do it at a higher level. Loan players can be unexpectedly great or unexpectedly terrible.

Coventry looking good if they keep Hamer. Birmingham always seem to bring in a whole load of good looking loans but go nowhere and I expect the same again.
Surprised Karlan Grant has gone on loan to Cardiff.
Huddersfield look like they are the latest club to expect Warnock to keep them up for free.
Hull City also looking good on minimal outlay.
Leeds don't seem to be doing much; I guess they lost a lot of free transfers on relegation. Squad still looks worryingly strong though.
Ipswich and Stoke both look good. Sheffield Wed, clearly there's something going on but they look like mess. When the answer is Ashley Fletcher you have to worry about the question.
WBA look like they've given up.
