Champions League final: Uefa 'responsible' for chaos before Liverpool v Real Madrid in Paris

Must have been a terrifying experience and all preventable.

Seems like organisers still fail to learn from history and past mistakes made at grounds all over the world.

The cover up and blame game started immediately as they knew they had messed up big time.

Who allowed all the CCTV to be deleted for evidence and who could have prevented that. Only someone who knew what it showed.

Some were quick to blame the fans, but they had a truly horrendous experience.
And the problem is that most won't read these reports. There's an incentive for event organizers to loudly blame the fans during the event when eyes are on it, then quietly apologise later when it becomes clear it's their fault. Very few people will pay attention to the story after the fact.

And as has been proven with Hillsborough, there are still some people out there who believe the false narrative had an element of truth to it. Despite all the evidence to the contrary.

I hope those quick to condemn Liverpool fans learn about making quick judgments without full facts.

Very good outcome that.

FSA chief executive Kevin Miles said: “UEFA’s announcement of the ticket refunds is both unprecedented and hugely welcome, and builds concretely on the apology they extended to Liverpool fans earlier.

“Both Spirit of Shankly and the Liverpool Disabled Supporters’ Association deserve enormous credit for the way that they have pressed the case of Liverpool fans affected by the events in Paris.

“Every football fan who has travelled to support a team abroad will know that, while it may have been Liverpool fans who suffered last year, these events or something similar could have happened to any of us. What these groups have achieved, supported by the FSA and Football Supporters Europe, represents a significant achievement for football fans everywhere.”

Additionally, Real Madrid fans who experienced problems will be offered refunds, UEFA say, and a special portal for supporters to report crimes in Saint Denis has also been established in conjunction with the French authorities.
