Not many people know this... but you could actually record the charts countdown radio show on a Sunday tea time ..straight to tape. The only predicament was using a TDK 90 you had to let some of the songs go .. as not enough room on the tape and you had to pause and restart according to the man talking about the songs anf the positions and if it was moving up or down,, didn't want too much talking , just the songs so was a bit hit and miss. Sometimes you really wanted the whole intro of a particular song..let's say Pet Shop Boys - West End Girls, but the man would insist on talking over it ...week after week, idiot, but overall it was a jolly good way to end the week.
thats age related... no barcode means pre-scans so maybe 60s - mid 70s?I was at a record fair recently (selling the last of my 7" vinyl ) and a guy was saying that there is a demand for cassettes that have no barcode. Make of it what you will.
The worst scenario was when your favourite song came on , you hit the record button just at the right time, and then your mam shouts through the door, 'yer teas out'!Not many people know this... but you could actually record the charts countdown radio show on a Sunday tea time ..straight to tape. I think artists are selling them and people are buying them for the same reason. Artistic value. Collectors editions and the like.Vinyl is like a piece of art, all other formats are inferior as collectibles. Surely streaming is the only alternative, due to ease and playability?
Vintage HiFi in the old Shakespeare on Linthorpe Road have a load of stuff.Probably something to do with the delays at pressing plants as the vinyl revival continues, plus perhaps artists wanting listeners to listen to the full album rather than skipping tracks which you can only really do with vinyl and cassettes.
