Carrick post-Blackburn

I didn’t think there was loads in the game, to be honest. I thought we done alright first half. They probably had a good chance. I thought we had opportunities enough to really create better chances than we did. We didn’t have that moment around the box, but it was a pretty even game, really.

The second half didn’t start too well. We didn’t start creating. We had some moments, as many as they did. It just kinda petered out in the end, which we're really disappointed with, to be honest. A goal`s not a good goal to concede anyway, and the way we kind of chased the last ten or fifteen minutes, we need to be better at that.

[Frustration at not breaking down teams?]

No! No! “Frustrations” not the word at all! You got to accept that and do something about it.

[Portsmouth next]

We've got a long week to prepare for that. Obviously, the cups done now, so it's fully focused on the league. So we will have to get ourselves ready for that one, but at the moment It's not really in my thoughts. I think it's digesting over this spell, digesting today what we need to do better, going into the week's training and moving forward.

I like the chap, but this constant "we need to be better" etc, etc, etc wears a bit thin when you’ve heard it every time, we've thrown away a commanding lead, gifted goals to the opposition, squandered chances, shown we can't take decent set-pieces or free kicks and move at snails pace for the majority of a game. Proof of the pudding is in the eating, and actions speak louder than words. Whatever is happening in training or elsewhere, isn't changing the mistakes we make on the pitch, week-in, week-out. What we saw today has certainly become the "normal" at the Riverside and needs to change quickly. Unless we are happy with finishing 8th again, like we did last season?

Yes, our home form is terrible for a squad who, everybody in the Country is saying, that it is one of the best in the Championship.

When we stop talking all this crap about "XG" and "heat maps", and look at just how many goals we've conceded, which is more than some in the bottom half of the table, then we can all have a more realistic conversation. Any more like the Cardiff / Sheffield Wednesday / Plymouth....games, and we will come unstuck rather quickly.

They battered us and really should have won by 3 or 4. To suggest it was close is Woodgate levels of delusion
I wonder if Woodgate whispers nuggets of delusion to MC during the game. “The scoreboard is lying gaffer”….”gaffer, I know we are 3 nil up, but tell the lads to go out in the 2nd half and throw caution to the wind”

When - many teams - exit the Riverside, with a win.. they often say what a: tough place to come, had to be patient as Boro are an excellent team, as the drive off with their win & we limply lose - again - over playing at the back, slow & dangerously sideways, over setting up the final pass to our single isolated & over marked forward in the box..

True, against promotion chasing teams or when we're away we get more space to counter.. but the training & tactics at home need to change..

Those players who were surely playing for a starting position in the team were an absolute disgrace and Carrick should have come out and said that.
Too much protecting these soft hearted enigmas.
What is going on in football today
Blackburn battered us
Denying that is absolutely absurd.

Incredible those comments from Carrick, shows how much pressure he’s under when he just starts to tell us we’ve seen something different from what we’ve seen with our own eyes.
It should’ve been 0-3 today and that would’ve been a fairer result.
Carrick delusional alongside the chancer Woodgate.

This is my issue with Carrick, I’m all for him having a football orientated style of play but to continue to try and play that way without the players to administer that style is tantamount to incompetence

Blackburn didn't batter us. It was a really dull game, and we played in to their hands with our slow play. They had a couple of better chances than us but overall very little happened for either team
Totally. They were just as bad as us.
