Carrick Manager of the Season

That factory phase in Crewe's existence ended 20 consecutive years in the 4th tier and ended with 8 seasons in the second tier, their first in 100 years.

If it gets us just the 1 promotion, I'll consider it a success.

I'd also add than neither Brighton nor Brentford's model gained them instant promotion.

It took Brighton 6 seasons and Brentford 7. We've been using their approach for less than a year. Ok, maybe we started from a higher position than them, but you probably have to go through 2 or 3 teams for it to work.

The Brentford team that went up looked very little like the team we beat in the playoffs under AK, and the likes of Maupy, Konza, Watkins and Behenrama (sp?) had all been and gone in the seasons in-between.
We haven't got that time with carrick 6 or 7 years he will be long gone especially if we we cant match his ambitions.

He'll be gone at some point in the future whatever happens. The better we do, the more attractive he'll become to the big boys.

I like MC a lot, but he's not the Messiah; the future of our club does not hang on any one man

If you don’t like us having to sell our best players, I’m afraid you’ll have to take up supporting a premier league team.

In fact, not just a prem team, a top 6 prem team.

In fact, just Man City.

In fact, not even Man City. Just Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Scratch all that. If you don’t like us having to sell our best players, I’m afraid you’ll have to take up supporting Real Madrid.

😉
Or people could just not like it, but continue supporting Boro.
To me there are two really **** things about football today. The first is VAR. The second is that all the money has been concentrated to such a small amount of clubs. Teams like Ajax are now hollowed out shells. Dominant in their own league but feeble in Europe. Fans not being able to see players develop as they are snaffled away at 19 years of age to sit in a loan farm at some awful champions league club. It stinks.

If the right player wasn't available, we were right not to sign anyone.

No one has denied we need a striker, but that doesn't mean just any striker.

Wether we signed one or not, there is a minimal chance of us going up this season, so I still think we did the right thing.
