Carabao Cup - The Preserve of the Premier League

A few years ago many were predicting the death of this competition citing that Premier League clubs didn't take it seriously and too many silly scores were happening.

Now we have Round 4 last night where 13 of the 16 teams were from the Premier League with just plucky Sheff Wed, Stoke and Preston holding the EFL end up (courtesy of a mammoth penalties win against Fulham)

The seeding up to the third round plus the enormous gulf in quality as pretty much seen off this Cup for romance.

The last 11 finals have all been won by 'big six' teams, and 7/11 of those finals involved 2 'big six' teams.
Its all very tedious if you ask me.

They kept referring to it as 'all Premier League quarter finals' last night, as if that's something to shout about. It's only interesting these days when there is a team outside the top flight in the latter stages.
