Don't know the facts of that case but imo the whole charity " industry " needs investigating .
Lots of cases of charity fiddles ( sorry I meant creative accounting ) as well as legal huge salaries for CEOs , managers etc .
How much filters down to the actual charity work ?

So a few bad apples = the whole industry?

Salaries are checked by the regulator and executives have to prove why they are entitled to their pay. Which also happened in this case.

Charity Commission is a chocolate teapot.

I worked in charity finance for 10 years. There are loads of brilliant charities out there doing amazing work with sod all money, with senior employees who make huge personal and financial sacrifices to keep them going. There are also plenty of awful charities who churn through cash, achieve nothing, pay excessive salaries and burn huge amounts on marketing and promotion, often covering it up by claiming it is "raising awareness" and therefore a charitable activity (examine the Royal British Legion's accounts in detail and you'll see why I'll never wear a poppy).

Sadly, the former always get lumped in with the latter.

I worked with a guy who was a contractor for Age UK and was paid over £400 a day, including his travel from NE to SE, so he drove slowly.

“Don’t be bluddy awful” was Mrs Woodall’s reply when I said I don’t trust those two dodgy looking f*ckers!!
The way the daughter was always there I said it wouldn’t surprise me if she’s got herself an agent. As for the husband, enough said!

Really interesting this, although not surprising. I remember when I used to give my dad a hand with his pools round in the seventies and when it was The Cancer Trust or similar week I remember seeing then that they took about a million quid in but paid out well over six hundred grand in admin fees etc.😧

Not sure about an agent but she's got her own website here

I think we need a whole overhaul of charity in the UK there are simply too many charities to function with any kind of efficacy at times well meaning charity allows governments to defer responsibility, Help For Heroes, for example is doing great things but that support and assistance should be funded by government and not the goodwill of the British people, quite rightly we have found billions to support the Ukrainian effort against Russia so why can't we find the millions needed to help those that have given so much for this country ?

How can it be right that cancer research in this country has zero funding from central government, why do we need the NSPCC to protect and help our children, yes, raise money to repair a church roof or to give a terminally ill child a special memory but for me too often things that should be probably funded are been neglected and the reliance on charity has gone too far.

The current cost of living crisis is going to lead to a situation where people who have supported charities for years being unable to continue to do so and when they're in need themselves that support will not be available.

The opening paragraph from Hannah Ingram-Moore's website

'Hannah Ingram-Moore is more than just the daughter of Captain Sir Tom Moore. She is a successful business woman, a mother and a leader in every field.'

My wise father always tells me that self praise is no form of recommendation and this always felt like his daughter was keen on making it about her as much as Captain Tom and it's such a shame that her actions have put a tarnish his acts of selflessness.

They don't. Most of what they do is campaigning, advertising, researching, etc. Apart from Childline (which gets some ring-fenced funding) they do very little tangible activity.
