Candlelight concerts

Me and the Mrs went to see a candlelit concert in Middlesbrough cathedral last night. Songs by Coldplay played by a string quartet.
It was very atmospheric and ethereal. The musicians were superb and although only an hour long, it was perfectly timed and the set list was perfect .
Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, they do other cathedrals and artists , music from the movies, Elvis, Queen etc.
Something different to a normal gig, relaxing, romantic and some well earned hubby points.

I went to see queen at Durham cathedral and also thought it was a good night

I've seen a few advertised but the cost of them have seemed quite expensive for essentially a cover band experience. There was one advertised at a local church with taylor swift by candle light and it was £38pp. I think the Fleetwood mac one at boro town hall is £33+fees. Candles must be expensive

I went to one in St Mary’s in Coulby. The works of Hans Zimmer.

Really enjoyed it.

Saw a Rock Orchestra one in 2021 in the Town Hall. It was okay but overpriced.

We went to the Coldplay one at Roundhay Park & the Adele one at York Minster. Both brilliant

just bought tickets for coldplay v imagine dragons in st marys and also adele in leeds! looking forward to them both!

Not my thing. I saw something similar where they played Fleetwood Mac, which is a band that I am a huge fan of. Clearly they were excellent musicians, but after a couple of songs it got very boring, and by the end I could not wait for it to be over.

Went to a Meatloaf one in Newcastle Cathedral last year. The singers were all from the Bat of Out Hell West End show so it made for a great night.

Very atmospheric in the Cathedral.
