Canary Islands Advice please

Wife and I usually have a late September holiday in Greece but can't this year due to a recent operation.

Looking to go away prob late October/November so Canaries the obvious choice. We've never been before so any advise appreciated. I've heard it can be windy which wouldn't be good. Really looking for smaller resort, good restaurants and bars, harbour etc, definitely not a very rowdy place. Not really bothered about the Beach, we'll hire a car and do boat trips etc. Good hotel with pool in central location.

Any advice on Island/Resort/Hotel appreciated, I've googled etc but going round in circles with too much conflicting info.

Port of Mogan in Gran Canaria is quaint, lovely and the warmest part of the island. It is the next resort on from Puerto Rico. 👍. Book a hotel there, you won’t regret it 👌
Agree with this, probably the best weather across the islands at that time of year as well.

Lived in Tenerife for 15 years, April and October were my favourite months, average temperature around 25c, occasionally cloudy days and the odd windy one, but mostly dry and sunny, far warmer in the South of the island, I lived in the southwest corner near Los Gigantes in a Spanish village, wonderful times and memories.

I live almost half the year in Playa Blanca lanzarote, I’ve just come back from town, sitting outside having a glass of wine it‘s 9.00pm and 27 degrees. Sat outside last night until half eleven, this is in t shirt and shorts btw. There’s a gentle breeze (very light rustling of leaves) because PB is in the south the hills behind protect us from the wind.

Going through the suggestions above

Canyoudigit is not wrong.

Playa Mujeres, Lanzarote (It’s actually Punta Mujeres) is beautiful to visit, not touristy, but very very quiet, mostly local Spanish. When you hire a car deffo visit for the afternoon - but holiday…..

Corralejo, Fuertaventura - not for me, first time we went to visit (5 mile ferry ride from PB) we got the next ferry back. We went to see the world windsurfing championship there - there’s a reason they hold windsurfing championships there - Fuerteventura translates to strong wind. Fuerteventura in general the only place I’d go there is Puerta del Rosario and it’s quite small

Costa Teguise, Lanzarote. Three main resorts in Lanza all on the east coast: Costa Teguise, most northerly, as said above can be windy, been loads just to see why people go, don’t get it.

Puerta del Carmen, busy, lively, night clubs and Irish bars etc. If I was in my 20’s this is where I’d go.

Finally here in PB, there’s a beautiful marina, the town is 15 minutes walk from there which leads into the port area. Loads of nice bars and restaurant. For me the best bit is that if you walk from the marina at one end All the way to the other end of town it’s about three four miles with bars and restaurants but it’s sea front walkway all the way, no roads, no traffic, nowt and you can keep walking further past hotels and then open space for another four miles again all on a seafront walk no road. In January we had 27degrees for three weeks solid. There are also Sandy beaches.

Costa Adeje, Tenerife. Ok, didn’t mind it.

Not everyone will agree with me but that’s as I see it.

Think we've been about 10 times in total staying in various accommodations. Las Brisas etc. Really envy you.

It’s funny spending a lot of time here, it’s a small island so everyone tries to know everyone else’s business (they don’t know ours). A lot of locals say ‘we don’t go to the beach cos we live here’ or ‘we don’t go to the tourist restaurants cos we live here’ but we don’t get that, they’re great and it’s nice to be here in Jan/feb when all the silver surfers are here, but it’s also nice to be here in August when the young families and screaming kids are here (nice when they leave again too 😁). It’s like the seasons in the UK except it’s not the weather that changes it’s the people.

Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is fine. As above, Marina is great and the walk along the promenade is lovely.

The rest of the resorts on the island are awful. Blackpool / Benidorm type places which are either your thing or not.

Another vote for Playa Blanca. Sandos Papagayo or the Dream Castillo are great hotels, both just a nice walk away from the marina and bars. Gabriella's (used to be called the Blue note) is a great bar. If you go, and are able to, scuba dive down to the underwater museum, absolutely fantastic experience.👍

I’m off to Lanzarote Costa Teguise Friday never been before but will update you when I return my son was there in April loved it and there is a Boro bar

Went to Los Cristianos about 10 years ago at this time of year and the place was basically shut by 10pm. No bars open anywhere except the hotel one. I wouldn't recommend it.
