Can you see Assombalonga having a future here?

He put a shift in today and played ok, but he hasn't got a long term future here. If he stays another year then he will leave on a free after that. If he stays another year, then we will miss out on getting 7mill fee, if he stays another year his 2.5mill wages will make a hole in our budget. If he stays another year his limited ability will only return 12-14 goals and leave us floundering again. Time to cut loses in 4 weeks and look for a buyer

Can’t see anyone paying £7m for a player with 1 year left on his deal tbh esp when they’d expect to be paying big wages

Britt scored a good amount of goals in crap team setups, I’d love to see what he can do as part of a properly set up team

As a previous poster intimated it's going to be very difficult to assess players fees, wages and contracts given the massive impact of you know what.

First post on this new forum lads 😬

I bet we see the very best of Britt in these 8 games as NW weaves his man management magic and instils confidence in him
That said, if Britt won’t take a drop in wages then I think NW will sell him with no qualms
I just can’t see too many championship suitors given Britts very very patchy form

Totally agree, interesting couple of seasons coming up wages and transfer fees wise for Championship and League 1/2.

Might be some canny bargains for a wiley operator to snare.

But for us, I think if anyone offered £4 million plus for Britt this summer we'd have to sell, we recoup some of his fee, and get his huge wage off the books (didn't Pulis intimate that he was on about £37k when he was discussing Braithwaite salary?).

Hopefully a few out of contract signings can replace his goals for reduced wage pay out.

I just think an in form Britt with confidence instilled in him week in week out by a NW character is just the kind of striker to fire 🔥 us into the premiership
that’s why i wouldn’t quickly move him on
If he fired us to the premiership next season under NW expert tutoring then allowing his contract to run down would be worth it given the premiership money up for grabs
Risky but worth a try ?

We will do our best to sell him I am sure. In order to rebuild we have no choice but to cash in on certain players. I know its an old adage, but the position we find ourselves in, every player is for sale, the question is will anyone offer the right money? On the flip side, we will have lost some big salaries and so have more scope in that area.
Some players will need to be careful they don’t over price their true worth, they may end up clubless,

We need to replace 8 out of contract players , 3 loans , and 5 u23 players are also out of contract soon , so that's a big recruitment .
The only way we can bring that amount in would be to sell and re invest .
Also Britt , Fletcher and Fry have only a year left on their contracts so we can't afford to let them go for nothing , so selling is the only option
Fry £10m + Britt £6m + , Fletcher £4m + would give us £20m to re invest
Anyone else will be for sale also so a bid for Tav , Wing , McNair , or Saville will be considered I would think
Maybe Woodgate is busy recruiting whilst Warnock gets us over the line .

Would offer Fletcher a new contract.

It is one thing acknowledging that both Assombolonga and Fletcher played their part in a vital win yesterday (which I've already been doing) but quite another wanting them to stay longer term.
For their wages and residual transfer value, we would be mad to keep either if we could get fees above book value for them. They are simply not worth what they would cost to keep.
I have no doubt that Warnock could use their value much better.

We know you don't rate either player, who then Indeeds would you replace them with ???

No Nobby, you seem to know I don't rate them, most other people aren't so aware of what I think, or frankly bothered.

My point is that we could do better with their value and wages - much better - and now we have a manager who's judgement I would trust to sign better value.
I don't have to name alternatives, just that I am happy we have a bloke in charge who can; we haven't had that for 4 years.

Before deciding or not whether getting rid of Britt (who can score goals at this level if played in the right system), you have to decide whether or not you have faith that the recruitment team at the club will be able to get in someone who is at least as good but at a cheaper price?

Don’t get how we would be mad to keep Fletcher. He’s been good this season, and did well second half of last season. Fair enough we will never make the money on him that we paid for him but I think everyone at the club knows that anyway. I would offer him a new contract, I think he likes it here and is really coming into his own as a player. Assombalonga I think will leave but would be disappointed to just to sell Fletcher without offering him a new deal.

Just I've seen you relentlessly slag both Britt and Fletch off on here...

Here you are Indeeds remember who said this ???

'We have a disastrous forward line. None of them can trap a bag of cement; none of them have good movement; none of them can convert chances; none of them has anything remotely useful about them'
