Can you be a supporter if you don't attend the matches?

Dropped her off at home as she has a flight at 5am. I think she was glad to see the back of me for once. Christ.

In comparison to the average enthusiast out here we look like lunatics in live action during thật nonsense.

I can't attend any games due to inner ear damage ( hyperacusis).
I can't be be anywhere near that level of noise
I'm still as passionate as anybody else, I watch as many live games/streams as I can.
Mind, I can't remember who it was, but someone at the Boro once said if you don't attend the games then you're a follower, not a supporter

so many ways to support the team besides through the turnstile.
I don't agree that you have to spend money to be classed as a supporter, if that's what you mean.
If someone asks me who I support and I answer Boro, they never ask how much I spend.

I have a stuffed "Sylvester" made by two of the domestics from my old Halls days in Boro. He is black and white with a big red nose and a tail about three feet long. They made him 40+ years ago, on my behalf of me, to give to my little sister. Since then, hes seen family members born, others pass away. He`s been in the attic and is showing his age. But the reason I raise Sylvester is: he ended up sitting on top of the wardrobe, to prevent any further wear and tare. He has around his neck a hand-knitted red and white Boro scarf with a Boro hat with a pom-pom. He is a Boro supporter - born and bred.

The moral is:
If a stuffed cat can be a Boro fan - anyone can! (y)

I see in this the modern trend of segregation and fragmentation in everything. Society slowly breaking down minute bit by bit. A bit like the excruciating debate on what’s a derby… never an issue for 100 years but now it is apparently with so many learned definitions.
Supporter / fan / follower has always been one thing and all one group.
It seems now important to dissect this into micro detail and definitions. FFS.
I don’t financially support MFC apart from BeIN Sports subscription and the occassional shirt.
But I get up in the wee hours to watch games from Australia and am passionate about the Boro from 40 yrs ago when I lived there.
I’ll explain to my mates here there’s a new definition and so I no longer qualify as a Boro supporter. Good to know.
Now let’s debate if Boro is in the North East or not. There’s a lot of government council border bureaucracy detail we can trawl through for hours - great fun eh?
