Yes but the people scrapping for the resources are not the ones with the money.

Let's take housing for example. We don't have enough houses. Houses are too expensive. What's being done about it? Nothing. Why? Because people earn thousands upon thousands of unearned income through their house going up in value. People would not vote for anything which damaged that. So housing is a limited resource. And people who don't have housing fight over it. While people who do have houses tutt at those squabbling.
 
Overall personal housing is very lightly taxed, for example

Free from Capital Gains on primary residence

For quite a few people annual council tax is less than 0.5% of the value of their property.

Purchasing is subsidised often by zero stamp duties, right to buy discounts, Lifetime ISA discounts, and when selling by inheritance tax discounts.

If these advantages were removed, property would not be as expensive.

D/Exp should be ashamed, but it will probably not be - dealing with 60k? claims a year for a country of 67.5m is not an invasion, nor are a net 200k immigrants (of all types) a year.

Our Population growth at present is 0.34% per year

In 2020 there were 8,000 more deaths in the UK than births, with no net immigration our population would have shrank slightly.
