But Brexit...

The deal we've struck though Festa is not set in concrete it is really only a framework for future negotiations, of which there will be many. The Swiss have regular trade negotiations with the EU, as will we. I'm happy enough with the deal, as I felt it was better than none at all, but the current deal will evolve as time goes on. The economic impact of it won't be determined over the next few weeks or months and we'll only really know whether Brexit has been a success in 5-10 years from now I'd imagine

agree it's better than none at all. And yes, true things can be renegotiated etc. Still it's not exactly the land of milk and honey that was promised was it?

My suspicion, depending on who is in power (whether that be Labour or more moderate Tories) is we'll ultimately start to slide towards a softer brexit over time anyway. That may well take 5-10 years, but it seems inevitable that you wouldn't have very comprehensive trade deal with your neighbours who also happen to be a massive trading block. To get such a deal will require compromises the current government won't make.
