Bulgaria, Sunny Beach

It's a party holiday definition but only if you go there for that; as long as you go to a decent hotel you won't even know.

Reccomend the RIU there, well placed all inclusive right by the beach.

Both myself and the wife are in our mid 60's we went 4 years ago with Tui and had a fantastic holiday. Dirt cheap in fact we ended up spending about £100 in their money at the duty free on the way home. Great weather very friendly people....

My wife and i both mid-50s went on a last-minute deal in early July and were pleasantly surprised.
Fantastic beach, lots of good restaurants and bars, ery good value for money, and zero hassle or safety issues. There are supposed to be pickpockets in the area but we never witnessed or heard of any.

The central strip area chilled during the day but gets very lively as the evening progresses and the young ones surface, but this is easy to avoid if that's what you require.
Plenty to see and do in the area and busses are frequent and cheap.
Choose your accommodation carefully though as the place is massive i would estimate it is a good 5k / and hours walking from one end to the other

I went last year and enjoyed it. If you do go, get there before the end of this month otherwise everything will be shutting around you for the year.

Also a lot of old school Balkan/soviet style hotels that are run down

Most generally safe but like everywhere there are scams and pickpockets.

Don't take any fruit you are offered for example, usually from kids. Don't fill in any tourist surveys,'they'll be trying to pick your pocket. Don't pick things up someone drops in front of you

Went with our lass about a month ago. All inclusive hotel just off the beach. Beach is massive with alternating sun beds and "Free Areas". Theres a nudist area if thats your thing at the south end of the beach! Sea front is basically 10 different market stalls.(fake football shirts, handbags, clothes) repeating for miles interspersed with bars and casinos. Usual sort of excursions available. (boat trips and jeep safaris) We were away from the liveliest area and were never stayed out from the hotel really late but theres plenty of bars if thats what you want. Best part for us was the Nessebar Aquapark, its huge and far better than the Action one at Sunny beach.
We enjoyed it overall and it makes a change from the usual spanish holidays.

We stayed in Sveti Vlas, just up the coast from Sunny Beach and a bit quieter. Has a marina and an old town you can walk up to with restaurants. Didn't really go to Sunny Beach apart from the water park but got a taxi through it to Nessebar on a couple of evenings which is another really nice historical old town.

We were looking at Sunny Beach for this year but went to Crete instead as I read online a load of horror stories about the state of it these days. I went about 30 years ago for my 18th birthday (with family and friends...I wasn't that much of a party animal at that point...late developer lol). 33p a pint, £1.00 for a bottle of wine, hotel staff tortured us for English money (notes) and THE best kebab I have ever had in my life. Bloke had a little set up outside some shops every dinner time and made the kebabs with fresh lettuce and home made stotties...he also made fresh spag bol every day too. The things you remember!

Alanya is a lovely place, good beaches nice town Castle well worth a day out.
Hope you are going into the small airport just south as the trek to Antalya airport is a beast.
Flying from Teesside so it's the beast 😁

First time we went to Turkey it took 4 hours to get to Marmaris from Dalaman, long time ago though.
