First time we went to Turkey it took 4 hours to get to Marmaris from Dalaman, long time ago though.

Are you sure you didn't fly into Izmir as that was the nearest airport to that area of Turkey the first time we went there and it was good 4 hours transfer. Marmaris is about an hour away from Dalaman.

Yes, definitely Dalaman. The bus had problems with its cooling system and we had stop after stop at various cafes where the driver filled containers up with water. When we arrived in Marmaris, which wasn't a big place, there was no electricity in the hotel, it was candle lit.

We flew to Izmir when we stayed in Kusadasi and took a cab arranged by the hotel. Haven't had a bad holiday in Turkey.
