Please God no. It will be as popular as employing Putin as manager with Philip Schofield as his assistant.
I would have the same sickly feeling in my stomach as I had when Woodgate and Agnew were in charge. That feeling of woe and melancholia. We have searched far and wide and come to the decision that Steve Bruce was the best candidate available.
He`s carrying ......I mean.. we won’t have to worry about whether he’s tried a parmo or not
We could do with a bit of mediocrity right now. Looking at the young managers.. maybe they aren’t even an option! Tough first job sitting at the bottom of the champoOn past form he fits our profile perfectly: he's English, he's local (ish), he's a "real football man" and he's as mediocre as f***. In Gibbo's eyes what's not to like?
Maybe he gets offered head of football/director of football?I think Bruce is too much "his own man" to fit in here with Gibson and Scott. I think that was the problem with Wilder; they won't make that mistake again.
Perhaps a job behind the counter in the South Stand kiosk?Maybe he gets offered head of football/director of football?
Good point. Gibson knows what his temperament is like etc. Remember those final days at Newcastle that lasted weeks? The fans hated him and would wave 'Bruce Out' banners in his face at games, home and away, and try to argue with him from the stands. He stood firm. This may have been seen as brave but also can be viewed as insightless and obstinate. Can you imagine this scenario at the riverside if we don't make progress? Often it is more honourable to just acknowledge things aren't improving and walk away.I think Bruce is too much "his own man" to fit in here with Gibson and Scott. I think that was the problem with Wilder; they won't make that mistake again.
The Brian Clough and Peter Taylor of modern times. Please God no. It will be as popular as employing Putin as manager with Philip Schofield as his assistant.
Love it!The Brian Clough and Peter Taylor of modern times.
What he omitted to saying was that he also had a potato head and a face that Les Dawson would describe as looking like a bag of spanners!Through a contact at the club, I've been leaked the press release announcing his appointment.
'Middlesbrough Football Club would like to welcome Steve Bruce as head coach, we've been monitoring his situation at WBA with interest and given the developments of the last few hours and the opportunity they have presented we have decided to act immediately.
Steve is a proper footballing man, he knows the area well and has a track record second to none having won promotion 4 times from the Championship and establishing teams within the EPL.
Steve is an upbeat character who wears his heart on his sleeve and his cap at a jaunty angle, we are sure his passion will put a smile on all Boro fans faces and his cheeky pitch side antics prove popular with supporters (stakeholders)* (use as appropriate)
Steve is an experienced coach, a joker with a serious side, a man of the people, popular with paupers and princes, a deep thinker and football revolutionary who has made 'Bruceball' the go to system of play throughout football.
He has long expressed his desire to alongside Kieran Scott, who he once met at Newmarket Races, Steve is good friends with Neil Bauser, they share the same love of arm wrestling and brass band music. He's also close to Gary Pallister and Robson Green who are both joining the club in new consultation capacities.
Steve has a huge global reach and an International respect that will extended the profile of Middlesbrough Football Club into unimagined realms, we are very pleased to welcome Steve to the Club and are excited in this new direction which we are sure will lead to further and ongoing success.
Yours, etc usual sign off
