Brighton

Makes you wonder just how good Graham Potter was doesnt it? Or is the club jus very well ran that whoever went in would be a success?

I genuinely think Ranieri did that with Leicester, they were flying when he went in and just continued. Then wherever else he’s gone he’s been dog ****.

No, it would be the worst thing ever. They are my local club and their fans are so plastic it’s unbelievable.
I thought by definition plastic fans were those from nowhere near a club with no affinity to them until they started doing well? Which would rule them out on the first regard given they're your nearby club.

100% good luck to Brighton.

I was working around there when they lost the Goldstone and were playing at the Withdean (basically Clairville Stadium). I saw a few games there - including Bobby Zamora playing for them. Sure I heard the song there "When the ball hits the goal, it's not Shearer or Cole, it's Zamora". A few hundred or thousand trying to keep it going. Didn't they also end up playing in Gillingham?

Built a new stadium, established a club in an rich town close enough to London.

Good luck to them that they now have 15,000+ more fans, 'plastic' or not.

Crystal Palace have managed to do it on the other end of the A23 too. I am surprised that Reading haven't. If only one of those IT companies there wanted to back a football club?

With them being in Europe this year I can’t see them finishing higher than last season, but having a great time doing it.

I understand what you're saying regarding them playing in Europe this season, and you're probably implying that their squad isn't equipped well enough to play in Europe and maintain the good start in the premiership and I agree with you but, is it me or does anyone else see that whoever they seem to bring on as a sub automatically fits straight into how they are playing. They have bought so incredibly well and these players are unknown but when they get the opportunity to play they all seem to be playing well.

Like the Yorkshire Terrier says, I still cant believe that Jason Steele is in goal and I did have to check as well to see if it was the same but, fair play to him for adapting his game and good luck to him.

I can't believe any Boro supporter would slate another team for coming back from being on the edge of extinction and small crowds to doing really well and attracting new supporters! I know a couple of new Withdean fans and they are exactly the same as a few of my neighbours and work colleagues who started going when Boro moved to the Riverside, they might not know all the history of players from the dark days but are often more dedicated than the likes of me who were at AP back in the day. Good luck to them.

Not slagging them tbh mainly concerned that’s the European adventure brings them a new challenge. They havnt put a foot wrong really in the Bloom era so dont see why they shouldn’t be up to it.

Their CEO was on 5 live yesterday talking about how the plan for the impact of a major loss to Chelsea (normally) very interesting.

Their football is absolutely fantastic. I think it’s funny watching clubs like Chelsea essentially trying to buy what Brighton have, or Liverpool and Manchester United trying to impose these grand or trendy football ‘philosophies’ onto their clubs and teams by spending hundreds of millions of pounds on players. They wish they played football as entertaining and interesting as Brighton do. You can’t buy it, you have to build it.

I hope Brighton win the league.

I think Brighton are an interesting club who are doing well just now but nobody should underestimate the advantage they have in having a massive relatively wealthy catchment in a location very close to London, historically they have probably underachieved.

Losing top players to the bigger clubs will weaken them though, no matter how well they have started this season.

A poster mentioned above about them ‘losing’ the Goldstone Ground a few years back. I think ‘losing’ way under plays the unscrupulous actions of their owner at the time who literally sold the ground under their feet for redevelopment leaving the club high and dry without their stadium. Quite an appalling state of affairs, thank goodness we never had somebody who did the same with the land at Ayresome Park.

I thought it was:

When the ball hits your head,
and you're sat in Row Z,
that's Zamora.

Steele played for us as a very young keeper during a pretty sh*tty era. He wasn't as bad as some make out, but similar to Pears Jr was too young and inexperienced.

Obviously worked hard at his game and became a solid #2. Then given a chance has grasped it with both hands.....and his oversized keepers gloves. And the rest. Fair play.

Doesn't look out of place in the PL, playing in a very good Brighton team.👍
