Looking through my Boro stats on this rainy tuesday

George Reid became our 100th registered Boro player & the 1st Boro player to score a hattrick at Ayresome Park, which was home to Bury on the 7th October 1905

Andrew 'Nesbit' Wilson was a prolific goalscorer, who started his career at the Boro, his early career was interrupted by the WW1 were his left hand & forearm were shattered by enemy fire at Arras. He wore a glove to mask the withered hand & forearm for the rest of his life
After the war he moved back to Scotland, where he played for Hamilton, Hearts & Dunfermlinewhen the league was absorbed in 1921 he moved back to the Boro as we still held his registration, both of his debuts 1914 & return 'debut' 1921 were away to WBA, he scored 56 goals in 86 appearences over 2 spells

In December 1923 he signed for Chelsea, both Boro & Chelsea were in the 1st division, his final goal was at home to Chelsea in a 2-0 win, his final Boro game was a week later a away to Chelsea

At the end of the season, both Boro & Chelsea were relegated, Boro for the 1st time
Andrew 'Nesbit' Wilson finished top goalscorer for both clubs

Frank Spraggon became Boro's 1st ever named FAC sub when Stan Anderson handed Frank the No12 shirt away to Chester in the 1st round of the FAC November 1966

Peter Wilson made his one & only Boro appearence when playing right back at home to Charlton in february 1968, he then emigrated to Australia where he is fondly remembered as the man who captained Australia at their first ever World Cup back in 1974 (y)

Orritt played in every position for Boro, even as sub keeper.... I think.

An early memory is of seeing him scoring twice against Sunderland and even more memorably being chased the length of the pitch by Charlie Hurley, after upsetting the man mountain makem legend... I think!

February 1905 - Alf Common the first player to be transferred for a fee of £1,000 when the mighty Boro bought him from Sunderland in 1905 scored the only goal, a penalty, in a 1-0 win away to Sheff United to see our 1st away win since moving to AP

Bryan Orritt wore every shirt number from 1 - 12 apart from No2
Which Ironically was the number of the 1st substitution for the Boro

Bryan didn't play at right back, Billy Horner slotted into the No2 position & Bryan Orritt played further upfield

His 1st appearence as a sub at AP was to replace injured goalkeeper Bob Appleby in a 2-0 win

Smog, you're correct on the 2 goals v Sunderland, in a 2-0 win, infront of 44,905 fans at AP, can't say about Hurley, I have a snippet of the match report in one of my scrapbooks I'll check tomorrow (y)

David Mills was the 1st away Boro player to recieve the 'red card' in a 5-0 defeat at Leeds, March 1978, a few days after our disastrous FAC defeat away to Orient, I was there that day & the Leeds fans taunted us singing, 'You've never been to wembley' :(

Billy Ashroft was the 1st Boro home 'red card' when he was sent off v Olympiakos in a 1980 pre season friendly

1984-85 season, defender John Kay loaned from Wimbledon in January 1985 became our 1st outfield loaned player, he played 8 games, drew 4, lost 4

Pat Lynch, defender, was named as sub on the 18th March 1972, he become the 1st Boro player to be named sub & never feature again

1983-84 season, Irving Nattrass played every single minute of every single game, 47 in total, league & cups, without scoring a goal, probably th only time in his career he'll have done that
