we have had a history of Boro forwards/players scoring on debut let’s hope we can add Akpom to that list.
 
He should be match fit hopefully but didn’t he get left out of their Euro matches ? ( Probably cos he was coming here ) .90 mins may be stretching it but we need a hero 👍
 
He had actually made a brief sub appearence final game of the previous season, but his 1st debut start &1st scoring on full debut that I seen live was Malcolm Smith, when on the 12th August 1972 at home to Sunderland, on the opening day of the season & wearing No9 scored the equaliser then the winning goal

A corner was swung over & he headed the ball in the net, a few minutes later a corner he won the header but the ball hit the crossbar & went over, leaving a muddy ball stain on the crossbar
Unfortunately we lost the only home game of the season to Bury 3-2
On returning to preseason training he remarked that the stain was still viable on the crossbar
 
I think Alun Armstrong did in a game against Sunderland and Bokšić away at Coventry.

and of Course Lee Miller,..........ah no hang on
 
Adam Reach also at home to Doncaster when Mogga was manager, final game of the season, which we won 3-0
